Wahoo! *Finally* finished this application! Been working on her for the past month or so, mostly struggling with posing, though the past two weeks have been a flurry of coloring and finishing her pokemon team!

I’ve been wanting to join one of these OC tournaments since I first came across Ultimate Battle Frontier sometime last year, but I was always intimidated by the huge number of people in the groups. Then I stumbled across who were still in the process of accepting applications. I still debated a bit because of my lack of freetime, but in the end I’m a masochist and I'm gonna do it anyways! ;D I had a lot of fun making her and her team, and I look forward to getting to join with all the other creative people participating!

My hope is that with these challenges and deadlines, I can work on improving my art. Especially my anatomy, composition in story-telling, drawing animals of all sorts, and backgrounds!

The Impatience of Youth

An ambitious trainer, Aria (or Ari as she prefers to be called) grew up in the urban center of Castelia City. Her parents gave Ari her first pokemon, Brawn the (then) growlithe when she was 9. She didn’t actually begin her travels until she was 15, despite begging her parents for several years. Her goal was to beat the Unova Elite Four as fast as possible and make some kind of record for a new trainer. However, a crushing defeat at the Electric Gym of Nimbasa nixed that dream, and seriously endangering Dasher’s health. Ari’s spirits were not dampened for long, and she continued her journey, though this time making sure she took the time to make sure her team was trained and ready for each challenge… as quick as possible.

Ari is reckless, speeding through tasks and adventures at break-neck pace. She’s always eager for the next big “thing,” always keeping her eyes on the horizon. She can come off as impatient and forward. However, she’s also very determined and will often follow through with any task she sets her eyes on.

Ari’s battle strategy is “Hit them fast, hit them hard, and finish them before they have the chance to hit back.” She focuses on moves with priority, ignoring various status-inducing moves in preference for highly destructive attacks. Her weaknesses are in waiting and enduring prolonged attacks, as well as guarding a position.

Her goal in joining the Crystal Championships: To win of course! And to improve herself, make some friends, and find that one special person. Someone who can bring out her true potential as a trainer, who forces her to improve herself, someone to admire and hate: her Rival.

THE POWER HOUSE: Brawn the Arcanine

He can be a bit dense as well, mis-reading or seeming to ignore the feelings of his team-mates, though he really cares about them. Often puts up a lot of bravado which can land him in trouble when he gets in over his head.

He and Brawn are often teamed up together as Ari’s prime duo, excelling at working together for powerful tag-team attacks. Dasher hates to be embarrassed and tends to keep the others in line when things get out of hand.

THE MUSCLE MAN: Hanz the Floatzel

Notes: Hanz is the newest addition to the team and a bit of a mystery to his team mates. He doesn’t talk much and can be rather reserved, preferring to enjoy their company in quiet. When he does express himself, it’s usually in action, or leaving his meaning open to the interpretation of others. One thing the others know for sure, Hanz is a serious body-builder. He follows a strict regimen of exercises each day to keep his physique in peak condition. He doesn’t seem to mind that his appearance might disturb people, preferring to keep a calm zen about himself. However, if action is called for, Hanz will take it decisively.

THE LADIES MAN: Excalibur the Serperior

Notes: Did you know Excalibur (or Ex or Cal as his friends call him) has met at least *five* others of his species with the same name? The coincidence is uncanny, but he’d assure you that none of the others were anywhere as charming as he is. Excalibur is a silver-tongued charmer, enjoying flings and light, but running at the first sign of commitment. Of course, he does have standards, he’ll assure you. They must be pretty, preferably with a good nature and that special spark, something to catch his interest. His team mates will tell you he’s vain and lazy, but surprisingly fast for someone with no legs. Despite his seeming self-centeredness, he is very perceptive and often acts as the peace-maker in the group.

THE GIRL: Delilah the Espeon

Notes: As the only girl on the team, Delilah feels like she has to prove to everyone that she can compete shoulder-to-shoulder with the other boys. Still, Delilah has spunk and she’ll keep trying even if she fails the first time. Sometimes she enjoys day-dreaming about being a magical girl like in a cartoon, saving the world and being rescued by a handsome stranger, but she’d be very embarrassed if anyone ever found out about her fantasies.

THE SLOW ONE: Sol the Scrafty

Notes: If Delilah has a chip on her shoulder, then Sol has a cinderblock. In a team centered around speed, Sol is the slowest member and he knows it. He hides any feelings of inadequacy behind apathy and arrogance. He swings between a burning desire to prove himself and a lack of drive to even try. He prefers to keep his emotions to himself, thinking that showing interest may show a sign of weakness that could be taken advantage of. Despite his short-comings, Ari relies on Sol more than he realizes. While he may be slow, he is one of Ari’s most consistent fighters, able to both deliver a beat-down and withstand one.
