"I don't know how you survived your trip here, but you should count yourself lucky. No one else has ever made it in or out of this town since that thing showed up. I bet you came here because all the other settlements are wondering why we went silent. Something tells me I don't need to explain the reason to you now. You saw what that thing is capable of. We are not even sure where it came from. It just slid out of a drainage pipe one day and it has been hunting in our waters ever since. I am pretty sure it even scared away the Scourges; if it didn't eat them all. That thing is insatiable. Be it divers, stiltwalkers or skiffs, it swallows them whole and it keeps looking for more. We should be grateful that our settlement is on stilts! I can't imagine how long we would have lasted if it could get up here! Unfortunately, that doesn't mean there haven't been causalities. That smart little scumpot has been using its whisker tendril things to try and grab anyone who gets too close to the edge. Can you imagine! Being fished by the fish! It's insane. We don't even know what to do. We tried killing it, but that thing is protected by the sewage waters and is a lot hardier than any of us would have thought! I can't tell you how much steel we sunk into that thing, but it keeps coming. We can't wait it out either. Our supplies are running low and we can't get the recyclers working with that thing stalking about down there. If you had asked me five minutes ago if I thought we would make it out of this mess, I would have given quite the grim response. But now that you showed up, my mood has gotten a bit lighter! I don't know how you did it, lady, but you outsmarted that thing and succeeded in marooning yourself on our doomed little island here. Despite the end result, I would call that a victory! Now I don't want to appear presumptuous, but could you help us out here? I know technically you are stuck in the same situation as the rest of us now, but I figured it would be polite to ask. We are trapped here, and you are the only one who has one-upped that thing. I swear to you, if you help us take that thing down, we will be indebted to you for life! And if you don't, you will at least have some company for the rest of your life! Now isn't that swell!"
