Description
The legends of ancient tombs and lost treasure are ones that catch many people's attention. The temptation of unfathomable riches just waiting to be claimed stirs greed and want in any heart. Multitudes of explorers and treasure hunters scour the globe in pursuit of these tales, all hoping to discover these abandoned troves. To any who seek fortune, the story of the Tomb of Nephili is one they eagerly listen to. The tale of a great tomb that lies beneath the burning sand, one filled with the impossible wealth of a lost civilization. It is found in the land of pharaohs and pyramids, a realm of opulent graves and golden vaults. Many know the riches others have pulled from these tombs, and the temptation of an undiscovered vault is impossible to resist. So they scurry in from all corners, eager to be the first to locate this ancient tomb. In time, they shall find this lost grave and plunge into its darkened halls. But as they roam the winding corridors and bizarre chambers, they shall find no wealth. What fills this tomb is instead a droning call, echoing from far below. Those who hear it will have realized too late that there is no treasure to be found here. The buzzing cries that consume their minds and draw them in come from the true dweller of this vault: The Great Deceiver, Mogari.Long ago, in the times of Ancient Egypt, Mogari was seen as a god. She was showered in love and worship, treated by slaves to feasts and baths. The attention and care was what she desired most of all, and she enjoyed every moment of it. Those who served may have believed that these gifts and favors to her would bring forth good fortune and luck, but in truth, they only served to appease her terrible rage. For she craved all the luxury and love she received, and she would accept no less. When the worship faltered and the slaves failed, she would unleash a terrible ire. The cities that failed to provide were destroyed, and the slaves who displeased her were devoured. She demands the utmost care and attention, even as she wallows in the depths of this great tomb.
Even now she seeks worship and slaves, though there are no civilizations that pray to her image or priests who preach her words. She instead gains new followers from those who foolishly enter her domain. The endless cries and drones she emits control all who hear her, and they are forced into endless servitude. From then on, they shall serve as her mindless slaves, constantly feeding and bathing her. They will serve her until they drop, or until she grows angry and devours them. Though they say there is no escape from her control, there are those who do leave her tomb. Those who go out into the known world, and spread forth the grand tales. The stories they speak of mention nothing of Mogari, but instead are filled with promises of riches and wealth. It is from here that the legends of the Tomb of Nephili are born, but they are just as hollow as its labyrinthine halls. But none shall question these stories or worry of consequences. For money turns men into fools, and Mogari shall turn them into slaves....

A piece I did for Tsnophaljakarax featuring their Elder Being, Mogari! The source picture was in black and white, so they left it up to me to figure out the colors for her. Hopefully I did this great beast justice and I hope you like it!
(Note: Despite the title, requests are not open.)

the human-like eyes clashes a bit on the rest of the non-human monster, but nice work!.

Yeah, I guess that's kinda my fault
I figured Mogari would look more disturbing if she had more human eyes than bestial eyes, but in hindsight maybe I should've given her more unique looking eyes.

Thanks! The eyes were a bit human on the original piece, but eyes were never my forte so I don't think I really got them right.

I.....love this
Thank you so much! I loved reading the description a lot, and I love how you portrayed Mogari's mindless hunger with her hapless slaves.
Thank you so much!
(also, great job on the colouring as well. Superb job!)

I am happy to hear that you like it! I have to say it was a challenge picking a different pose for a beast who sits in the bath all day! I figured her hunger was the only time she really moved, so I went for it. I am also happy that you enjoyed the description! I am always a sucker for writing up something up for every piece!
Glad you like the colors. Originally she was going to be all browns, but that felt too plain. With the Egyptian history behind her, I figured a few yellows would fit!
