Description You asked for it, here it is! it's my first tutorial so I hope it will help! I tried to make one a bit different from the usual anatomy ones you can find on deviantart.

I focused more on the details, shapes, types of dragons, so you can diversify the types of dragons you're drawing! I hope it will help!

EDIT: About the WINGS attached to the top of the shoulder: some people said it's impossible for a dragon to fly with wings at this place, but I focused on aesthetics more than on anatomy logic (after all if we follow logic, you should have to make your wings with a very precise size, calculate everything according to the weight of your dragon, etc, etc) Dragons don't exist and that's why it is fun to draw them. I chose the example of the wing attached to the shoulder because it's for me the most beautiful one and the one we see the most even in professional artworks, because it looks more "badass" and elegant. But of course you can put the wings lower on the back, or attach them differently to the body. I just won't guarantee it will look good. There are so many different ways to draw a dragon ^^

This tutorial is fantastic! Found it originally on Pinterest. It's made drawing dragons a whole lot easier. But I still am struggling on drawing the body's. Would be great to see another tutorial just like this one but more about body's/wings! Β

Thank you! hmm for the bodies, I'm sure you can find some on deviantart? I don't really plan to make a tutorial about dragon bodies unfortunately.

these look like the drawings neondragon did in one of her books.....

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Evolvana In reply to Arlyis [2015-12-17 11:12:01 +0000 UTC]

I don't know who neondragon is.
These are basics, so of course you will find that type of wings, claws, etc, in dragon artworks in general, because it's how dragons are usually drawn. I didn't use any reference for my tutorial, if it was your question.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Arlyis In reply to Evolvana [2015-12-17 19:49:45 +0000 UTC]

well neondragon 's latest dragon book, Dragon Art Evolution, came out in 2010 with these exact drawings while you uploaded this in 2013 with the exact drawings so there must be a correlation between this and her dragon tutorial

Evolvana In reply to Arlyis [2015-12-17 23:02:24 +0000 UTC]

Can't be possible, as I never looked or used any tutorial of anyone else, I don't even know who that person is. I'm not that type of person, so please, don't accuse people like this.
According to what I saw in his/her gallery right now thanks to your link, her style and mine are totally different anyway.

I don't make money with my tutorial so I don't see the point in doing something someone else already did, I wouldn't waste my time.Β

Some of the things you said kinda aren't true..
A dragon doesn't need most of these things to be a dragon, it can be a dragon no matter what it looks like.
Dragons are made from your imagination not a directions book.

I don't mean to be blunt, but i had to speak my mind.
Your art is great, just don't tell people how to draw things or else their gonna want more directions from other peoples perspectives.
Then everything's going to be a mess.

But there is a line between wyvern and dragon. wyverns have two legs, and typically a barbed tail. if you draw a "dragon" With two legs, it's a wyvern. Sorry to burst your bubble, but uhΒ

Evolvana In reply to NightmareEclipse6789 [2015-06-26 08:41:55 +0000 UTC]

Haha, don't worry I don't oblige anyone to use the tutorial. I'm not giving orders here ^^ people use it if they want to (like aaaaall the other tutorials on internet), I just give "some examples of what a dragon COULD look like" (it is said in the tutorial "make your imagination work", see the very last part), it's not "how a dragon absolutly looks like and that cannot be different".
