This is a nice balance between stylization and a measured study, I mean to say a nice interpretation of the actual forms and such. The left arm bugs me (although I'm sure it's one of those things that doesn't look right but that's what shows) but the right arm is really really tight. Good rendering, and I like the perspective on that reaching foot! There you go, I said something vauguely critical in there. Studies aren't really the place to critique anyway, they're more of a documentation then trying to accomplish something. yammer yammer yammer.

*IN DEPTH SOUND EFFECT!* it was a wee bit of a scuffle between simplification and abstraction and realistic representation. Like on the raised leg i cheated the actualness but then on throat i tried to get in the creasing and masticular projections of the neck muscles jiggies. there was a weird thing with that arm actually, originally i thought it was just the shoulder that was visible due to the angle and the light source but then the silhouette type yokey of it wasn't making sense so i stood up and had a look see at the arm and it was actually the back of the shoulder and tricep that was visible with the elbow resting at an angle raising the shoulder up. it was CONFUSING! but i think i kinda worked it out, or cheated, whichever works

looks cool, its good that you are able to apply your style of drawing animation say, to life drawing. im still seeing a gap for myself between the two if you get my jisting..

i know what you mean, it feels like cheating for me, like the bit with knee raised i couldn't work out the shape properly so i just made it into a point. it's a lot to do with visualising the model in 2d and caricaturing them in that way. it seems to me sometimes the fact that you have a live model to refer to people feel the need to strengthen that connection to the act of life drawing, aiming to capture that person as they see in life, rather than using the same process to draw them as they do for when they have no material to refer to. it's kinda matter of using everything you know in articulating the drawing making up the bits you don't know, most of all not to worry about what the pose actually looks like more what works...

Just a great experiment! What was your inspiration for these?

am, well this style, or the one it derived from, came abouts from being influenced by joey mason and mike gilberts stuff as well as some of sean galloways, picking up little bits from shane glines and paul rudish on the way, until it kinda became a hodge podge of em all with some spontaneous experiments thrown in for good measure. i'm into abtraction of poses and trying to simplify and stylise while retaining the gesture and those styles i feel are prime examples of gestural abstraction and thus i hope to, by taking them all on board get good good

Yeah, I'm into that stuff too. Trying to reach a simple iconographic style, that is easy to read, but still versatile.
