Description
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated" [by Mahatma Gandhi - Indian Philosopher, internationally esteemed for his doctrine of nonviolent protest, 1869-1948]Warning: NEVER abandon your pets!!
There are several NPOs that take care of abandoned animals! If you're interested in adopting a new member to your family, just try to contact one of those organizations. Check the [link] for an example of an NPO that exists in Coimbra [Portugal].
Shot taken in Caramulo [Portugal].
"Yoda" (it's not his real name, it's the nickname I gave him because his big ears!) was walking on the road and when he saw us, he came along with us but keeping a safe distance. He even had lunch with us!

Beautiful shot and I love the black and white. What I nearly love more than the picture is the back story. How you found Yoda and the happy ending to it all must be such a nice memory. I recently lost my dog to illness but I took care of him and loved him for 14 years, I grew up with him. To think there are animals out there being abandoned and abused is sickening, despite all the kind people out there such as yourself. I'm glad Yoda was found and the interaction and companionship with your subject adds that little bit more to the quality. Superb work.

Like you, I also lost my dog, about two years ago. He died of age! And I agree with you about those persons who abandon their pets, especially now, during the summer vacations!

It would be great if every country prosecuted people that mistreads and/or abandon pets. But then again we are a self-destructive species, reason for which we kill each other in wars, pollute our planet…and the list keeps going….
We can only hope that educating others (as you are) will decrease these global issues…… including of course, living in harmony with our pets!
Great picture!!!!!
