This is more concept art for the upcoming Alien Vs Predator comic by Rival comics.

I wanted to try and experiment a bit with the predator as a character and thought to myself no one seems to have looked at its ability to cloak themselves,so here is a partialy cloaked predator

the idea is he looks like he's observing his prey or waiting to pounce or something like that.

i tried to go 'all out ' on the jungle aswell

all comments welcome

Well done! The blending you did on it looks very good, and it also fits the movie kind of how the predetor can become invisible.!

thanks matey. i tried to do a more chameleon effect as apposed to totaly invisible. i thought maybe that there were different sorts of optic camoflage the preds might use and came out with this

im glad everyone likes it

Well yes...there is a scene where one of the Predators uncloaks in front of one of the marines shortly...itΒ΄s at the end of the first issue when theyΒ΄re leaving the temple ruins. I was tinkering around how it should look like....and AndyΒ΄s Camo-Tech gave me the idea of making him literally pop up out of the walls....but maybe I stay true to the original lightbreaking cloak...I donΒ΄t know about this. We should consult Brian.

im tinkering with the traditional style of cloak with what im doing on ellie.
maybe we see how that comes out and then take it from there
I'll have ellie finished later on today i think so once ive sent that we can see what looks better and of course i'll bet sage has some good ideas on it too

junior has recieved quite a few comments ! im really surprised! im glad my idea paid off

with you drawing such great images its hard not to get all creative on them

thanks for the advice matey

did you get my cheesey logo? did you have any ideas on it ?

i am seriously considering buying the pred movies tomorrow on the way to work !!!
already got the aliens ones but that box set is starting to call my name

ideas? not really. I like the names as they are...but the title doesnΒ΄t really fit...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

exell In reply to Midnite7175 [2004-02-17 18:24:18 +0000 UTC]

thats good enough to give ME ideas

i think i'll keep with the top title and try out different types of letters for DISSOLOUTION
i was thinkin instead of techno sort of writing maybe something gritty like kinda scrawled across or something. i'll keep tinkering and work up some more examples.
im still fiddling with ellie. i think i got too carried away !! might have to toneit down a bit

thanks for replying

Wow. I certainly was right about you doing forest scenes. Geez-a-loo!

Man... well, I'm going with a hi-tech style, to try something out that hasn't been done on the previous Predators in Dissolution. So maybe my sparkly glows, shiny metal, and reflected light will trick people into thinking mine's better but your's is fantastic dude. I certainly hope we get to use this cloaked effect in the comic. I can't remember if Brian did it in the first comic, but maybe now Brian will include some cloaked Predators in the upcoming scripts, as you've done quite a great job on it.

your always right mate!

im recieved such good response on this its unreal

im glad cos it has kinda kicked me into gear and makes me want to push myself further i think we both go together really well for that

i cant wait to see your one i love your metals and i actualy wanted to talk to you about metal sometime. i'll mail you with some questions

Im finishing off ellie today and ive gone for the traditional type of cloaking this time. the ellie pic is by far the most ambitous yet. i fabricated a whole waterfall so i could have her under it partially cloaked with her armour fizzing and clicking out of order cos its wet, like in the film

dont know wether i will pull it off but we'll soon see

take care matey

I like it because it could be a new art of technology...a prototype cloak....well at least it is a try to evolutionate the design....even a good design can be improved.
But maybe u r right, in this case all my drawings should go to the trashcan, as they arenΒ΄t true to the archaic design of the original predators.
(Take it easy, I know what u mean Legato. And your critics are welcome since u know a lot of the Predator culture as it seems)
The jungle is a bit blured which gives a major focus on the predator itself...I like it. Again a confirmation that JAson was right about how to use your talent best...

midnight i couldnt agree more

i thought maybe junior being young was testing out a new type of tech for battling the aliens with. he could even have been helping some pred scientists or something

Also i do think that the limitations of film effects at the time of predator had something to do with how the effect was portrayed on film

well im still really motivated by these comments and im going to keep experimenting

if you threw your drawings in the trashcan id go rooting through your trash !!!

i value everyones comments they help make my art what it is
and Miguel your art just plain rocks anyway !!!

peace Miguel

speak to you later when i unviel the highly experimental ellie

Legato895 [2004-02-16 22:59:59 +0000 UTC]

being a predator purist, i would have to say im not really liking the colored cloak effect. try turning the pred back to B&W and see if that looks any better... who knows, it may just be me. lol, i had the cloaked predator toy, and it was all clear with no color

Rival-Brian In reply to Legato895 [2004-02-18 05:45:31 +0000 UTC]

I think the main reason that the Predator appears green is because of all of the trees and because of the forest behind him. Even if the exell was to do the typical Predator cloaking, he would still appear green due to the forest, as he is pretty much invisible when cloaked.

exell In reply to Legato895 [2004-02-17 12:55:18 +0000 UTC]

well. i must say i tried that at first but it was too run of the mill and kinda boring.
i had a house full of people when i was finishing this and tried the two versions with everyone and they agreed with me on the take i went with. I do agree with you though. I just wanted to try and develop the pred tech a bit further from the film.

im trying a more traditional type of cloak on Midnights female pred. maybe you'll like that more

i value your comments mate.as always. But i cant help being the kinda guy who always want to take an idea that little bit further

cheers matey

IΒ΄m abashed...wow! I like the camaleon style of this.. I was already trying how to draw the cloaking of the Preds...
this could be an alternative...
Coool coloring...letΒ΄s see what Jason makes out of it...He will have a hard time topping this.
