thanks for the tut!

once they're done, do they get hard? dont the parts get separated?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

exeriox In reply to digiswoops [2010-12-19 13:57:14 +0000 UTC]

No problem! Well, after you bake them, they get hard. If your'e afraid the parts get separated, just put a little piece of a toothpick to connect the arms and legs before you bake them. Usually, after I bake them I add a few layers of varnish on them. Varnish will protect them, and as long as you dont put too much pressure on the separate parts they shouldn't break

"easy to read tutorial" ? I highly doubt that, my eyes hurt from those blurry pictures. But nice tut anyway!

I just want to say that this tutorial WAS easy to read, and that the pictures are perfectly fine and clear; even the blurry ones.

I have seen some pretty shitty tutorial photos; these are not.

bread-doh [2010-12-18 11:13:30 +0000 UTC]

did you just stick the legs into the body without any blending? I often have problem with it being very fragile. anyway, i don't make clay monkey, but just simply sticking the parts without blending, makes it even can't stay on its place when baking, then the parts fall off. I use SuperSculpey.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

exeriox In reply to bread-doh [2010-12-18 15:10:54 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, well I don't usually have a problem with that unless i put pressure on the arms and legs, lol. Sometimes I'll put a little part of a toothpick or paperclip in so it stays in place when baking. Try it, it might work for you too When I bake, I don't bake following the instructions much, haha. Once I tried following its instructions and I ended up with burnt clay, so I bake it at 250 degrees for about 5-10 minutes. Of course, I don't bake the monkeys individually, I make some more things and bake them at the same time
