Some basic anatomy sketches, just overall composition. Been tweaking things here and there.I doubt anyone can read my script, but it basically says that the underside of their forearms are like big gecko pads. They stick to things easier now, gives them leverage for shimmying up trees.
Also, curly second arms. Easier than "folding" them like a jointed arm, seemed like it'd be easier to roll them up like their tail.

I love the hunched over, gorilla like posture and anteater toes! It's wonderful to see something so familiar and yet so alien.

Why the different anatomy of the different appendages? Is there a functional reason there or developmental or evolutionary?

The evolutionary path of the Gapuri's ancestors caused the odd limb anatomy. The back half of the animal had more boney fins that let them cling onto rocks in rough currents, while the front limbs grew longer and more flexible for feeling around small crevices and snagging prey. The "spine" of the forelimbs allowed them to start holding onto other things as well, and eventually they took to climbing, or at least jumping out of the water and grabbing low hanging branches to evade predators.

Yes, of sorts. It's not the same as a spine, but it serves a similar purpose. It just reinforces the arm, but it can be a bit of a weakness too because the spine can be broken. It takes a bit to DO that because they are so flexible, but chances are if you are using that much force you would have crushed a non-boned arm anyway. You can't really snap a Gapuri arm like you can ours, but you can overextend it and tear the ligaments and muscles and nerve bundles within.

With a limit to flexibility compared to a boneless octopus tentacle, I imagine.

They look like huge lumbering beasts! Look at those huge shoulder muscles! I would not want to mess with a Gapuri! Kadu down there looks really monkey-like, but he looks a little bunched up, like there's no room for the extra arms. When are you gonna paint some agile Gapuri gracefully swinging through the trees? I wanna see how the arms look uncompressed.

The language is not easily spoken by us at all, their languages are far more bird like in sound. They use a lot of throat sounds as well, sort of like a mimic bird. They are very good mimers actually.

I don't think you've shown us an individual with the coloring of the one in the right hand corner, before. Is that a typical color morph, or something atypical, like albinism?

Cool design! looks very natural and realistic. Although to me these look more like a gorilla-like, possibly simian animal then a sentient alien. Just me opinion and, eh, I don't even care about my opinion.
But let me ask, are there front arms still tentacles?

They do get rather gorilla-y when on the ground, their arms sort of retract and compress to be sturdier while on land. They extend when in the trees.
They are still tentacles, but not purely muscle, though they've never been purely muscle. They are more like highly modified tails than "tentacles" or arms.

not to be rude, but just because something doesn't walk on two legs like a human doesn't mean it should be considered unintelligent. It's a flaw in human thinking to see bipedal creatures as smart. :T it's why most aliens in sci-fye movies walk on 2 legs. For some reason our brains allow us to relate to them better. In reality, there could be tiny ant-sized quadrupeds out there with a higher brain function than the smartest human!

Yeah, just sayin'. I've tried developing some non-bipedal intelligent aliens my self. It really dose get tiring seeing all the sci-fi aliens looking exactly like humans.

I know. D:< did you know that the director of District 9 was originally planning on the aliens being quadrupedal or centaur-like, but the producers asked him to humanize them because they were afraid audiences wouldn't be able to emotionally connect to them? *raaagggee*

Haha. And then their's Star Trek... That's what I like about the new 2009 ST that they added a few species that weren't... Well, they're still fairly humanoid... but that's fiction for ya.
