Description
The first art of my friend's OC Liljana that I have felt was good enough to warrant posting to Deviantart. She is one of the Fair Folk from Exalted, and I believe the character has taken on the persona of a terrestrial predator goddess. This means that while in truth she is a soul-eating dream from a realm that considers 'reality' to be a very bad if occasionally interesting idea, she has also taken on the form of a low to mid level deity of hunting, which is why she has both snake AND spider parts. Her lower body is usually that of a serpent - this is REALLY hard to pull off in Daz Studio via kitbashing (snake-women models are a bit too expensive to buy on a lark) and the reason why it's only hinted at in this picture. She also has spider mandibles and does a LOT of silk weaving - having made her own clothing, for instance, out of spider silk. She's currently setting up her new office in the trade city of Nexus, starting a small money lending business. The good news is that she sticks to her agreements. The bad news is that she's a better negotiator than you. Also I suspect that somewhere in the contract it states in cases of forfeit she gets to eat you. She wouldn't even have to hide that part, it's a valid legal penalty in Nexus.

Liljana belongs to... huh, I don't actually know what name/screenname she wants to be cited as, so for now I'll just say she doesn't belong to YOU. As usual the art belongs to me.

The first thing I thought of when I saw this was her yelling down the hall, "hey, could you give me a hand". Nice work on the character. I like the spider mandibles. Very nicely setup scene. It's my understanding that Daz Studio uses geografting. If you have a snake figure then you should be able merge a snake tail with genesis and have all the reptile women you want. I wish I knew more about how it works so I could tell you how to do it, but I've never done it. I have seen the results though. Wonderful render you got there.

Thanks. You would not believe how long it took me to get the spider mandibles to look halfway decent (in large part because I make a point of never looking at a spider or even pictures of a spider closely enough to analyze their mandibles).
I have no idea how geografting works unfortunately, so I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the tip!

You're welcome. You know I never really fully appreciated the fear of spiders until one day when I was a kid I came around the corner and was face to face with a giant tarantula. It was so big that I could see it's eyelashes. I didn't even know they had those. When it hissed at me it was a declaration that it had accomplished everything in life that it wanted to and was ready to see what lay beyond. Afterwards I had to patch up the shovel shaped hole in the wall on the outside of the house where the spider had been previously standing. Geografting is kind of like an advanced form of conforming. Here is a very basic look at it in action www.youtube.com/watch?v=_O8qL_… . I know a few 3d modelers who use it to replace the need for conforming tails and wings on Dragons and such. sickleyield has a great tutorial on geografting www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zm-QCF… .

I didn't know they had eyelashes either. In fact I still don't know that because I am going to completely repress everything you just said about spiders.
Unfortunately I'm going to have to hold off on learning geografting anytime soon. I took a look at the tutorials and that seems more advanced and time consuming than I'm willing to commit to right now. But thanks for the links, I'll keep them handy for the future.
