Description
The Princess lost her temper at the insult, and the first battle between the Solar Alliance and the Vasha Irdin Continuum began just outside the Shattered Star colony on Mars. It was a loss for everyone involved.
Against most human technology, and against each other, Titans were devastating foes. But the one element of the Dominators humanity had not been able to properly reproduce was the control system. Vasha Irdin machines had nearly a quarter of the response time of human equivalents, an interface that not only received information from the pilot's nervous system, but provided feedback, and a dedicated form of martial arts used by Dominator pilots for over 5000 years.
In close combat, a single Dominator could usually defeat two Titans at once without serious risk of injury - perhaps three Titans in exchange for serious damage. During the war, one Dominator managed to defeat 13 Titans unassisted.
Every Titan defending Shattered Star was destroyed or at least disabled, and they accounted for less than 20 Dominator kills. A dozen or so more Dominators were taken down by additional Solar Alliance forces and emplaced weaponry while the Vasha Irdin were still focused on the Titans. The remaining Dominators walked away, conducting an orderly withdrawal after putting down all active threats. The colony itself was left unharmed, aside from the destruction of its military defenses.

(I have NO idea what's up with that funky coloring of the rock ridges - the landscape completely broke in certain places when I rotated the sky for lighting purposes, but since it took half an hour to render, I decided to leave it as it is.)
