"How about this? I know what it - or they - are not. That is not a human infected by your run of the mill T-virus, if it's the T-virus at all. It's stronger than a human that size should be, but there's no real decay to speak of. It's hostile and tried to bite Rick, but zombies don't really show emotion - this does."

"Las Plagas, then?"

"Maybe it's dumber, weaker cousin. The Plaga parasite leaves its host capable of thinking and even speaking, and a grown parasite is capable of defending the host. This? This is a blob with barely moving tentacles. Granted, for all I know it's about to sprout a flaming scythe or start a dance routine."

"That's just swell. Can we kill it/her/them now? Or are you planning on taking it back with us?"

"No, Star, I'm not. We don't have a way to safely transport this, and she, if she still counts as human, is beyond our help. So unless Hautchek has some insights or is willing to take a sample...?"

"How many times do I have to tell you morons that I am a technician? If you had a portable M.R.I. I could use that, but I can't conduct an alien autopsy or vivisect a live human with a frickin thumbdrive! Besides, you guys may be immune to almost everything, but I'm a normal human being - I'm not going anywhere near those."

"Shhh!"

"Don't you shush me, I'm - oh. Something horrible is sneaking up on us, isn't it."

"That is not the sound of something that bothers to sneak around."

"Oh dear."

Is it weird that I wrote the parts about zombies rotting and brain parasites during supper?
