My newest artwork, this is based on a song I wrote called 'Like Oxygen'. It's a Christian-based song, and I was inspired to draw something to go with it. I wish I could post the lyrics to my song for you to see, but I want to keep it private ^^this must have taken me at least 8 hours to do on photoshop, using mostly a mouse. The hair, the lace, and underwater bg took me the most to do.
I would really appreciate it if you would fullview, you can see the detail I put into it, and the quality is better :3
Edit: Wow, thanks SO much guys for all of the faves, it means a lot that something that came from what I was feeling at the moment turned out to be pleasing to other people x3
I touched up just a couple of minor things and resubmitted this deviation, just to let you know ^^ I want my picture to be worth the faves it has =]

IMO, this looks like a mermaid (even though you do not see the tail because she is underwater.

Once again, I really like the title. You are very good at titles, which are far more important than most people think.
This picture has your usual soft, glowy style to it, perfect for this calm, underwater scene. I can clearly see the time and effort you've put into this picture, the bubbles, her lacy wear, and her hair are very well done and detailed.
I especially like the glowing, strand-like look the hair has, like it's bellowing about underwater, very nice effect.
Her eyes stand out a lot, which is a good thing, but it's by itself without the existence of other contrasts. Attention goes straight to them, and everything else feels too soft by comparison. Adding darker shading in the hair or skin, for example, can level it off.
Her right eye (on our left) is placed too far out, if you observe a turning head, the eyes stay perpendicular and in the same spot while it revolves, but the angle and perspective changes.
I really like this picture, you captured it's essence very well, and like any other picture, some small tweaks could be used.

I'm very happy you like the title, I'm happy with it also. I agree with you about the importance of titles, it really helps to set the mood for the picture and give you an idea of what to expect.
I dont really know what I would make more contrasting, I love the lighter shadows for the skin ^^ I might try lightening up the eyes a bit tho, just to 'set' it in the picture more. Yeah, now that I look at it, I see that the left eye a bit too far to the left, thanks for telling me

Yes, titles are very important. Are you like me, where you plan out the whole thing, color and title, beforehand? 
The whole eye shading thing is once again, preference. I love how dark and glittery they are, and how they hold attention, but it just feels a bit funny since the rest is so light. Lightening the eyes is probably the best choice, hope it turns out right.

yes, there is definately a difference between saying 'cute' and saying what you like about it, anything that needs help, or how it makes you feel. though of course I appreciate both ^^
I'm not like you exactly I suppose, I usually come up with a loose color scheme, build up the picture, and then when it's to the point where I understand the picture, then usually a title sort of comes into my head. ^^ my sis ~mad-liz is a lot like you tho, she usually plans the title, colors, and mood beforehand. I'm not sure why some people plan it and some people wing it, but whatever works. ^^

Oh, and I'd pick another title for that song. Avalon has a song called "Oxygen" and the chorus goes "Your are like Oxygen". It's not a big thing, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

hmm, idk, my song has the words 'like oxygen' in the chorus several times, so I think I'm going to keep it that way. plus, I'm sure there's enough room for one more song with Oxygen in the title ^^ that's really interesting though, that there's another band that has the title and chorus close to mine, I had no idea

Very pretty. I like how etherial it is. You have good clean lines, especially for a mouse-drawn picture. Did you use vectors to get those lines that clear? And it only took eight hours? Damn, you're fast. I remember when I did mouse-work, it'd take me a couple of days to get something that clear. Especially the hair. That'd be two, three hours worth of work right there, maybe more. Her eyes are gorgeous. Very lively.
I have a few issues with it. It's far, far too bright near the top of the image (the white hair, the light blue and the white in the corner make me think of an overly-bloomed next-gen videogame. Lighting effects are good, but there IS such a thing as too much shiney.) Also, the lacey stuff over her body is jumbled and a bit too repetative. It looks like you used a brush for it, which is fine, but I would have given a little more thought to how you placed your pattern, and maybe added a few other elements. The brush you used for the bubbles is awesome, and those are very well done.
It's a lovely go, and beautiful work for having to use a mouse. Nice job.

thanks very much for your comments and critique! I used a mouse to draw the lines, then went back again and lasso-tooled the parts that I didn't like. It was kinda time-consuming, but it turned out pretty good. Thanks very much, I was actually going to have the eyes an amber color, but I played around with the colors and I really liked how much they stood out when they were this sapphire blue color.
I used white at the top of the image, I suppose I should go back and make it a light blue. I noticed that as soon as you said it, so Im glad you caught that. I really like the lace the way it is now, though I will go back later in photoshop and experiment to see if I can get it less repetative. thanks very much!! I started with a lot of hard brush strokes, then added a layer on top with a light softer brush and adjusted the layer transparency. it took me a lot of experimenting to get it to where I liked it. ^^

thanks so much!! x3 yeah, I've only used a tablet up till now for my deviations, but I think the lines turned out pretty clean ^^ the lace was verry time consuming to do, but I like the end result! thanks again for your comments!
