My first outside assignment for the school year. My concentration this year is the human heart, and what it can symbolize. My first piece with my concentration is still in the gallery so...I'll be posting that later when I get the chance to see it again/borrow somebody's camera ('cause mine is kaputt)

But anyway...I thought this was total crap until people told me they didn't think it was, so...I don't know. I still think it kinda looks poopy.

We had to do our outsides in the impressionist or post impressionist style. Meaning, it had to look kinda painty/not blended all the way, it had to be of an everyday scene, and we had to focus on color/contrast. And we had to make it about our concentration. Which for me...was difficult, because you know, hearts aren't really an everyday thing...AND to make it mean something...yeah. I had about 8 different ideas for this, but all of them felt lacking. I guess this one lacked the least.

My idea was...the baby is sort of contemplating love. Like, what is it? Why do we feel it? Do we really know what it is? Can we really say that we've felt 'true love' when we are this young? Things like that...it's a baby because I think that we are too young to really say we know what love is, but that depends a lot on your personal experiences, what you might think about love. There are many different forms of it, so it's a pretty broad and confusing category. The heart is hanging from a mobile, if you couldn't tell...and the mobile has a little light in the center.

I feel like the shading on the baby is pretty good, because I used a reference, but the background is sucky because I made it up. Also, all non-photoshop forms of this made the darks way lighter >.> It doesn't look as good as a jpeg...
