Description I did very much enjoy SkyOne's adaption of 'The Colour of Magic/The Light Fantastic' over Easter and knew that when David Jason was cast as Rincewind that at least he would be able to pull the roll off on a comic level but there was still no denying it that the part is meant for a much younger actor.

Anyway, it inspired me to start some doodles of how I see Rincewind the Wizzard in my head. The first sketch in the top-left corner makes him look like he is a relative of Arthur Dent but I'm currently happy with the sarcastic and angry Rincewinds in the bottom-left corner. Their face-shape is what I'm trying to aim for for future drawings.

hehehe, he's pulling his hat over his eyes. xD

I never knew they made a movie! I'm crushed! It's because I live in the States, isn't it??

Probably...!

The Colour of Magic is well worth seeking out as it is quite funny and Cohen is spot on but I warn you that ultimately, a lot of fans feel that David Jason is miscast as Rincewind if only in terms of his age.

Nice!
And anyway, it doesn't matter that they didn't choose a younger actor. David Jason played the role really well!

Oh, I agree, the personality and humour was there but still...

He looks awesome. Makes me want to see the adaptation, but I haven’t gotten to The Light Fantastic yet.

For some reason, your Rincewind looks like your Fitz to me. Perhaps it's the whole scruffy, skinny, and constantly expecting something terrible to happen thing. I do like your Fitz, so there are worse things for anyone to look like, and your Rincewind does look maybe ten years older and there's much less pretense of trying to seem laid-back.

So...

Er... I don't quite know how to respond to this but I guess I can see where your coming from with their personalities.

So...

Or, perhaps, my eyes are just being made of fail. That would explain why I've sucked at sketching lately. I'm quite sure they look vaguely similar, but beyond that, don't trust my opinion.

Anyway, they are awesome sketches. I forgot to mention that, didn't I? I seem to take it for granted your sketches are awesome!

I've been flicking back and forth between the pages with Fitz and the pages with Rincewind on them and still don't see it myself but if you think they're awesome anyway then I can't complain!
Thanks very much!

Somehow (maybe it's the pessimism) he looks a bit more like Tulio from the Road to El Dorado.
JessKat83, however, makes him look like Linguini from Ratatouille, only with a much stronger and longer variety of expressions. And a small beard.

I wasn't as big a fan of the adaption, I guess becuase David Jason just didn't feel like rincewind to me. Your pics are how I envision him really.

I did enjoy it but there was a voice in my head telling me that, 'He should be younger' throughout the film which could be a bit distracting.

David Bradley as Cohen was spot-on though -truly excellent! "I have trouble masticating." got a big laugh from the whole family!
Tim Curry makes a great villain as always and I was pleased that The Librarian in human form got quite a lot of screen time. It somehow made it funnier, when he has his accident, when we know a bit more about him.

Read Colour of Magic not too long ago, wasn't too bad except there wasn't much of a plot. I'll have to check out that adaptation tho.

And your drawings are great as always; I especially love the one in the lower right

Terry Pratchett has said himself that 'The Colour of Magic' was very easy to adapt for film as the book has no plot!
It took him a few books before he knew how to write properly for his own book series.

I'm glad you like this, I knew that someone would like the lower right one!
