Description This in no way represents all the musicals I have ever seen (whether I've viewed them live on stage right in front of me, through a film adaptation or fan-recorded clips on Youtube) just the one's whose soundtrack I own. And also are stage plays, not certain special tv episodes or web creations!

From top to bottom: Avenue Q, Beauty and the Beast, Cabaret, Chicago, Grease, Hairspray, Jekyll and Hyde, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Les Miserable, Lestat. Little Shop of Horrors, Lord of the Rings, Oliver!, The Phantom of the Opera, The Producers, Starlight Express, Sunset Boulevard, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, We Will Rock You, Wicked.

There's a video that goes with all this as well. Check it out here: [link]

Have been in a production of: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. Oh, and my brother played Madonna in We Will Rock You(not on Broadway) Awsome drawings!

Amazing! I recognized almost all of them.
Say, LotR had a musical?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Expression In reply to Violeta960 [2010-09-21 02:01:53 +0000 UTC]

Yep! It didn't last very long though, a couple of months at least although I think the creators are hoping for a revival sometime in the future.
I think the original show was too expensive and complicated to keep running for long.

i love this! i also love how Kate Monter's face is like 'oh hell no bitch.' also love how Max and Leo's faces just scream 'we're so screwed.'

i was able to tell all of these, except for Lestat, LotR, and Starlight Express, mainly because i didnt know Lestat and LotR had been made into musicals and i have never heard of starlight express. this is great!

Expression In reply to RabidFangirl409 [2010-04-22 16:21:52 +0000 UTC]

Glad you love the faces!
Lestat only lasted a month on Broadway and LotR, I think about four months in the West End so I'm not surprised if no one's heard of them but... never heard of Starlight Express...?

Actually, to be fair, due to the play being performed entirely on rollarskates, Starlight Express requires a very specific stage for the actors to race around on. It can't just be performed anywhere which is largely why it stayed in one theatre in London for 15 years! It eventually attempted a touring run a few years ago which I saw but it was a largely diminished show with the train races being played on a movie screen rather than being performed live right in front and all around you.
Ooh, someone has one of the races on Youtube! Take a look and you'll see what I mean about the stage: [link]

The "Les MisΓ©rables" one is made of lol - and that for a musical that honestly made me cry!
I didn't even know half of them - I have to listen to more musicals.
Oh, by the way, did I ever mention that your earlier fanarts got me into "Jekyll & Hyde"? So yeah, I did a little fansqueal at that one. That and "Sweeney Todd".

Poohbearlover42 In reply to ??? [2010-04-15 02:26:52 +0000 UTC]

OK.

THIS IS MADE OF SO SO SO MUCH WIN I CAN HARDLY CONTAIN MYSELF.

Like, seriously. Smilin' ear ta ear. This kinda made my night.

I guessed all of them but Lestat and We Will Rock You simply cause I haven't seen either. :/

And I am super duper uber happy you drew Sweeney Todd to resemble George Hearn. Just an extra thrown in piece of epic right there.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Expression In reply to Poohbearlover42 [2010-04-15 14:57:05 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!

Oh, yes, George Hearn truly scares me in the role of Sweeney Todd so there had to be a little influence there in the drawing!

And I really enjoy your interpretations of the Avenue Q characters.

I may have to pass on that as I know very little about Seussical the Musical other than it partly involves Horton, The Cat in the Hat and the Grinch. It's a bit of an extremely unknown production in the UK.

I've had a few suggestions about Spamalot but that's another one that I have to say, "Sorry, but I've never seen it!"

Darn, these shows costing so much money to see!

Thanks, anyway!

ThePawn000 In reply to Expression [2010-04-22 21:50:54 +0000 UTC]

The only Broadway show I've seen is Wicked. I've also seen a few school/college/off broadway perfomances of shows like Cats, Guys And Dolls, Hairspray, Once Upon a Mattress...and of course I've seen movies of many more!

personally, just hearing a soundtrack of someting can help me understand something. I'd known the soundtrack for a year or two before I actually saw Wicked.

Me too. I owned the Wicked CD for a couple of months before actually seeing the show. Lending said CD to a friend then convinced her to go see it as well!

Brava for including Lestat, Jekyll & Hyde, and We Will Rock You. Definitely three musicals that get overlooked.

These are amazing! Your cartoon style is so fantastic!

I didn't want to just include all the "obvious" musicals. There should be some of the "lesser known" ones in there as well for variety!
