Description
Loki, who was envious of Baldr, decided to end with him once and for all. When Freyja, the goddess of love, feared for his son's life, she demanded all the things, alive and not, to sign a contract to never harm the god of purity. Every creature accepted and signed it; from the largest of mountains to thesmallest of leaves, everything complied into not hurting Baldr; everything but one, "small and unimportant thing", the mistletoe.

Loki had convinced Freyja into leaving the mistletoe out of the contract and with this, his plan had given its first steps. Everything worked out perfectly: Baldr was with the other gods testing his new impenetrable body with countless weapons being thrown at him, everyone was having fun throwing things at him. Everyone but one: Höðr, the blind brother of Baldr. Loki, mischievous as he was, guided Höðr's aim into Baldr's body with a mistletoe arrow. The shot was fired and to the ground Baldr's body fell. After such a loss, Odin, enraged by the death of his most precious son, went to Gríðr and fathered Váli Odinson with the sole purpose of hunting down Loki.

Váli Odinson killed Höðr and, upon finding the god of mischief, he took Váli Lokison and Nótt with Loki, turned Váli Lokison into a female wolf so it could kill Nótt and, with Nótt's entrails, bound Loki to a stone. Lastly, he put the most venomous snake right above Loki's head so it could drip venom into the god's face. Sigyn, Loki's wife and former queen of Valkyries, left her position of queen and devoted her eternity life to holdin a bowl above Loki's head so he could not suffer from the venom, but every once in a while, she would leave him to empty the venom and consequently let the venom poison Loki, causing him to spasm and the earth to shake.
