Did some minor tweaking of John Jameson's Man-Wolf form for my Alternate Marvel Universe. In this alternate Marvel Universe John Jonah Jameson Jr., son of J. Jonah Jameson remains a test pilot and astronaut as well as being the commander of the first manned mission to explore Mars.
It is on this Mars exploration mission that Jameson & his crew discover remnants of an ancient & highly advanced civilization hidden beneath the surface of Mars where they also find various artifacts from this civilization that collect and bring back with them for study on Earth.
One of the various artifacts found on Mars were several red crystal like gems which seemed to be nothing more than simple gemstones.
Jameson keeps one of these gems as a souvenir of his Mars mission and wears the gem on a small chain around his neck. The gemstone however grafts itself to Jameson's neck, initially granting him increased strength, stamina, agility & senses which Jameson used while considering the possibility becoming a costumed hero
But several months later Jameson finds himself being transformed during times of stress into a large and powerful humanoid wolf creature that is dubbed by the media as the Man-Wolf. As the Man-Wolf Jameson is initially aggressive, savage and combative in nature, which leads to his various encounters with Spider-Man, but he also appears to possess heightened scientific knowledge and expertise with various technologies he normally has no knowledge of, leading to speculation that his Man-Wolf form is that of the mysterious lost/extinct race that was responsible for the hidden civilization found on Mars as well as the gem/gems discovered on Mars possibly being some sort of DNA containment vessels for this lost race.
As John Jameson has found himself transforming into the Man-Wolf more frequently, he seems to slowly be able to control his more aggressive tendencies in his lupine form. Because of this Jameson's last encounter with Spider-Man as the Man-Wolf left them as uneasy allies as he was able to help Spider-Man capture and contain Morbius the Living Vampire during his most recent blood lust outing.

A Heroic, in control Man-Wolf would be very cool - the Amazing WolfMan or similar perhaps.... heh

I bet it was the DB that named him Man-Wolf, wasn't it?

Yes. J. Jonah Jameson in fact names him the "Man-Wolf" and of course views him as a menace. Once he becomes aware of the fact that his son is the Man-Wolf however, he becomes more sympathetic and covers the Man-Wolf in a more positive light as John starts to gain more control of his actions in his Man-Wolf form.

I think he even starts to let up more on Spider-man too when he sees they are friends, right?

Nope. J Jonah will always see Spider-Man as a menace no matter how much good he does because he believes Spider-Man is only doing good deeds simply for attention and not because he legitimately wants to do good. As I stated in my J. Jonah character post, it's because of Spider-Man's brief time as a wrestler/entertainer that he'll always see him in that manner, as a self serving "performer".

Not even his son can change his mind, that I know.
