Take rubbing alcohol (from pharmacy, tell them thet you need 100% alc. and tell the purpose is for dolls), or try to erase it off?

I only looked at this tutorial after the fact that I ruined my dolls face. Like her makeup is just smeared all over. Will it come off still, or will it stain?

I can tell you that if the make-up is the one made in factory, it'll come off as easily as before. I hope this helped.

My doll's factory paint won't come off, it just moves around the doll and my cotton bud isn't getting any of the paint off. I followed the tutorial. I'm using nail polish remover. What should I do?

Sonkisonki In reply to Toxickirsty [2014-08-30 13:21:45 +0000 UTC]

You need acetone. Dont waste time with nail polish, acetone will wipe it. Just be sure you're wearing mask and gloves.

OrigamiKat In reply to ayame229 [2015-05-26 21:05:58 +0000 UTC]

i would prob say painting the doll's skin??
not with the normal craft paint, but with airbrush paint

just protect the doll's hair if you are gonna do it

yw!
and if you don't have an airbrush, you can always just try to find a doll that has the same color you are looking for
for example, if you want to make her look like a human, you can use clawdeen, or one of the normal colored dolls.

What about spray paint?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

OrigamiKat In reply to ayame229 [2015-05-30 03:02:21 +0000 UTC]

that could work too!
just make sure that the doll's hair is covered, and do it outside.

If acetone spill ...
do I have any chance to make up for it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

eyepins In reply to rm6y7m6 [2013-08-07 19:18:48 +0000 UTC]

If acetone spilled on the doll? I'd say just don't touch it, or rinse it off without touching or rubbing it. It might make the surface slightly grainy, but it's contact that causes the big problems. If you rub, scrub or touch the body when it has acetone on, that's what'll create marks.

I have a question... I just started customizing dolls and I know everyone says to use mr super clear to seal it but I don't really have access to it are there any other good sealants to use that are more easily gotten?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

eyepins In reply to Kryshna [2013-06-15 19:40:11 +0000 UTC]

I've seen other people in the hobby suggest Testor's Dullcote, and there's some debate about it (and other types of sealants) here: [link]
It is pretty hard to get hold of, but if you're in the US you'll probably be able to find some within the US on eBay or to order without the long wait (I live in Europe and sometimes have to wait five months for it to arrive x__x)

As an European too, I use Citadel that I can buy from a shop nearby, It's inexpensive and very good

thank you sosos much for this!, you make it look so easy! hehe.
I have a question, I want to repaint a high monster dool so badly but I want to paint also the body, can I do that?, what if I make a mistake on the body? ;___; how can I fix that if the acetone can ruin the body??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

eyepins In reply to william-adolphe [2013-04-24 13:28:05 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome! I'm sorry for my very late reply, I was away ;A; I hope it's not too late for me to give my advice on this. What kind of painting on the body did you want to do, a tattoo?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

william-adolphe In reply to eyepins [2013-04-26 10:22:34 +0000 UTC]

don't worry! hehehe I haven't been here lately for health issues >.<. well I'm not sure yet, I bought a frankie stain for my first try and the first thing I want to do on the body is to add pink to the fingers and knees and elbows, I want them to look like my drawings: [link]

so, I read that sand the body is a very good idea, then seal it with mrs super clear and do the same thing that you would do to the face D:

eyepins In reply to william-adolphe [2013-04-26 18:11:55 +0000 UTC]

Hmm.. If all you want to do is add some blush to the body, I wouldn't say you need to go through the laborious process of sanding. I blush most of my girls bodies and just give them a base of MSC as usual before starting. Personally I'd advise to blush with powder for something like that rather than painting it ;; so hopefully you wouldn't have any need to use remover on the body.
I hope that helps even a tiny bit ;A; (your art is adorable by the way, must follow *u*)

william-adolphe In reply to eyepins [2013-04-27 06:12:15 +0000 UTC]

oh like, with pastels, right? pastel powder?, I also read that the sanding gives a very smooth touch to the skin D: maybe that plus makes the hard work worth it haha cause then It will combine with the skin of the face, but I also want to add more things like tattos as you said I think I will do the sanding O:

It does help a lot hunn! hehehe :}. awww and thak you so much! hehe you're so kind!! Ü

Have you used this method on any other dolls? I have a Disney fairy doll (not tinkerbell but another kind, dolls from the movies) that I'd love to repaint.

eyepins In reply to skatergreene [2013-02-27 02:09:57 +0000 UTC]

I've personally also used this technique on Barbies and a Disney Rapunzel doll. Really it just depends what your doll's face is made of. If it's soft vinyl this should work fine on it, though maybe test the remover on a small patch first just to make sure. It'll turn white and start to flake off immediately if it's the wrong material to use it on.
