Ha ha ha ha, I've been blocked by DesuDan.
Well, here's my reply anyway DesuDan :
You haven't got a single drawing in your gallery that even remotely resembles her level of skill, or even mine.
You are missing the point. Every one is an experiment. They aren't there for you to like. They aren't there to feed my ego either, so you can't hurt my ego by attacking them. The sole point of the Power Girl drawing was to test out techniques of shading or textures. Screwing the drawing up is a calculated risk of trying something new.
Apart from that my gallery doesn't even contain 10% of what I've drawn and finished. I've lost faith in this community for years and people like you are one of the reasons for it.
What you are writing is a typical example of psychological projection where you accuse others of traits you possess yourself. You're the envious one. You're the one shielding the artist from any critique because they - god forbid - might improve.
I don't give a damn about your claims about recognising good art. You can't draw anything on this level. You're not the one to judge. Period. You are no authority to me.
I've rotated the picture and showed beyond any level of doubt that they're uneven. Unable to disprove it you started attacking my person, because hey, maybe a legit argument won't work if I make the person making it look like a clown.
Shove your manipulative gaslighting techniques where they belong.
"You are the fanboy in this room" - how does that exactly work? Because I'm neither 100% against this pic, neither 100% for it. You're grasping at straws.
I see you've seen that senpai comment. What you failed to mention is that that person explicitly said they don't need fan guardians (like you). We also explained things to each other at the end - without further interference from that fanatic - and parted amicably.
Very selective fact picking is also a tell-tale sign of manipulation I'd expect from a m'ladying neckbeard.
Top tip: until you've struggled with the pen and paper enough, shut up and stay in your lane. I've got circa 25 years of experience in it. You don't. Even if you do, guess what: you haven't gotten far with it.
P.S. I just love how you went to sounding more pompous, using bigger words, etc. to sound more smart. Well, you didn't.
So predictable.
Equally predictable is the sore loser technique of blocking. Well, guess what. Every one can see that.
And to prove I'm above petty things like envy I'll write here and now that you're very good at photography.

The hair was superbly done with colour pencils. Equally great is its vibrant colour and the strong contrast with black outlines. Face is really nice, though I think you put the right eye a tiny bit higher than the left one. I know her head is tilted, but even for a tilted head it's off. The difference is minimal and I had to put a ruler to her face and tilt it at the same angle the face is tilted to make sure. Even her brow looks a bit higher than the other one even though its on the part of the face that's lower (and therefore should be lower than the other one).
I know, it's traditional art, so harder to fix, right? Can't do anything about the original, but you CAN mark the eye/brow section in a free graphic software (can be done even in MS PAint) like GIMP, you move it a bit down, OBLIGATORILY invert/mirror the image horizonatlly to see if it looks OK (artists do it all the time, mirror the image to see mistakes they've missed). After you move it you copy paste tiny bits of the skin with the tone closest to the original and you cover the white spot left by the moved part. OOOOR you can use Photoshop's mesh manipulation/perspective or its liqyify filter and push it down. Pushing will kind of smudge the skin part softly, so you don't have to play with covering it up.
Does the error ruin the face? No, it's visible only at a closer glance.
If you still don't believe it, you will see the distance from the chin to the eye is bigger on HER left side.
I'd finish the dress if I were you. The skin was drawn really nicely.

You're welcome.
Glad you took it that way. Some are really resistant to any form of critique and stop to grow. I respect your attitude.
And let me make it clear one more time: the whole artwork looks pretty, even with the uncoloured dress and the slight flaw with the eye placement (the tilted head obscures it even further, so one had to look closer to see it). It's a really good piece of art.
Keep drawing, keep practicing and best wishes with all your future works.

it's no problem! x'D if it will aid in improvement, then why take it negatively? : )
but yeah the dress is supposed to appear kind of airy / translucent white so I purposely did not color it in haha :"D
but yeah the eye is a bit x'D
anyway thanks again!

Oh, I only now noticed that faint line of the arm under the fabric. But the one on the chest looks solid - the line of the cleavage ends before it and doesn't continue under it.
You could do it like other artists render wet shirts - they make them skin coloured, only more pale where the fabric touches the skin and more solidly coloured (white, for example) on the folds where the fabric is the farthest from the skin.
Here you don't even see a trace of a freckle or a nipple (unless she has a bra, which you also can't see or is one of those nippleless anime ladies) under it. And as I said the crack of the cleavage stops right where the fabric starts, so it doesn't necessarily suggest its see through.
No problem.

not all the way translucent actually, just the sleeves
the dress is just white

Pedigri In reply to F-AYN-T [2015-02-13 00:26:14 +0000 UTC]
Uh, that needs to be made clearer - the sleeve being translucent despite having exactly the same colour as the non-translucent chest part is plain confusing XD

I can't see what's wrong with this piece? Have you ever looked hard at a human face? If you have you'll notice that eyes are never level, as with ears, eyebrows, cheeks, teeth - even the face shape itself is never symmetrical. So really, even with the little imperfections makes this piece more accurate. As for finishing this piece, that would ruin the subtle tones and blend of the media used.
So in a nutshell, I don't agree with anything you wrote.

See it now? All you had to do was to say that you like it that way. Instead you went for the stupid thing of trying to prove me wrong when I know I'm not, and be a ss about it.
Second, that's not how face asymmetry works. And no, it doesn't make it more realistic or accurate. It's just a terrible excuse.
Glad that you don't agree with me saying other parts look good, because - surprise - I don't agree with anything you wrote either.

Ahh looks likeΒ you're a bit sore today, so I'llΒ mark your reply down asΒ emotional.Β As for pointing out the flaws* maybe you should have a browse through your own gallery and look at the list of anatomical mistakes you've made before addressing someone else's. Because lets be honest, the wordsΒ Pot, Kettle and Black are emerging at a fast pace.Β Have fun with that.
*Flaws = Art envy.

Ha ha ha ha, I wouldn't point out a single good thing about that pic if that was envy. I wouldn't bother with trying to help anyone to improve.
Besides, have you noticed how old most of these works are? "I pointed out how badly you drew 10 years ago! Ha! Point proven!"
Yes, you do that, downplay an argument, because you think it's emotional. It'll right all the wrongs! It'll suddenly and magically make the eye straight!
The real problem is you, the fanatical fanboys and fangirls.
Are you trying to impress the artist? Get them to notice you? Make them feel - god forbid - gratitude?
Are you trying to say the artist can't handle themself?
That's in poor taste.

Believe me, it's you that needs the advice to improve my misguided friend. Even your current works are no where near as controlled or executed as these pieces and yet you're the one handing out this so called "advice". Shame on you. On the subject of eyes, again I ask the question have you even looked at your own work? Like the Power Girl one... She looks seriously baked in that drawing, or been working late nights AND they're not level either! So what point are YOU trying to prove when you can't even sort your own anatomical cockups!?
The real problem is actually back at you, I recognise good art when I see it. I draw inspiration from it and wouldn't dare criticise a piece unless I was at least at that skill level. However you spill out all this nonsense on how you'd correct that drawing digitally to make it "right" when again:
A. There's nothing wrong withΒ it.
B. You can't even laydown the foundation work of your own style.
So no, I'm not one of these "Senpai please notice me" idiots that float around on here trying to score brown-time. Rather someone that can detect art envy a mile off and call people out on it.Β And you my dear chap have not only been called out on it,Β but you are the fanboy in this room.
Top Tip: Be more proficient in drawing, and less with the keyboard.
