Description
Thought this would go well with myspace.comCousins, second cousins, a brother, sister, daughter, grandfather, mother, uncle, grandsons and great nephews from two countries and three states sharing photographs on a laptop.
I've been getting a series of expressions together from this laptop. It can be quite amusing!
MP and 50 Summilux
Tri-X @ 3200 in Xtol
Negative scanned and corrected in The Gimp
No cropping or other shit

This picture is indeed representative of facebook, I think this photo can relate on a pretty international level. Everyone everywhere is crowding around to read some comment or note on their profile

awesome picture, both the content (you're right, it goes really well with the myspace one) and the image itself!

Thanks mate! It may be my most overpriced and simplest camera but it's the one I enjoy using the most.

Ofcourse not, since you make great shots!
Can I ask which scanner you use?
The piece of crap I use seems to remove all details in the shadow/dark areas. Lot of the time, it just comes out a solid (or close to) black. And each scan produces a different result... sometimes it won't even focus!

I use a cheap Canoscan 9900F I got off ePay for $123, Tony. For Black and white film I scan the negs as positives then invert in The Gimp and do basic levels, curve and USM. Not the ideal solution but it works

11.5 mins in stock solution @ 20c and 3 inversions per minute on that one but it coulda done with a bit longer.

I've found pushed HP5+ does better in stock but this is my first Tri-X and haven't tried otherwise... yet. I've still 95 feet to go!

Ah yes, I was wondering about the whole "100 ft of Tri-X" that I found on a website the other day - how does it actually come?

f-hole In reply to GFXPunk [2007-10-12 08:34:36 +0000 UTC]
Mine came by Australia Post! ...and wrapped in a tin in a box. Not too tricky to load in the bulk loader in the dark bag.

GFXPunk In reply to f-hole [2007-10-12 14:22:02 +0000 UTC]
But... how does one load and unload it? I mean, surely you can't load the whole thing at once... and how do you store the film that you've shot?

f-hole In reply to GFXPunk [2007-10-12 16:40:00 +0000 UTC]
I use a daylight bulk loader to load it onto re-used cassettes for normal usage. There's a good link here [link]
My daughters botfriend (son-out-law) works in a mini lab and they can't wait to throw away the used cassettes and canisters and he usually brings me beer too! One tip - I use good quality masking tape instead of cello or sticky tape to attach the film.
Ends up more than halving my film costs for 20 rolls at a time and you know what that means, Josh - more beer!

GFXPunk In reply to f-hole [2007-10-12 22:02:16 +0000 UTC]
Cheers, I'll be checking at my local place to see if they can't wait to throw theirs out as well - hope they do want to!
I'm ordering a bulk-loader now, I worked it out as £1.60 a roll of 36exp and I tend to pay about £3.00 per roll! Much in the way or money saving... cheers!
Thanks for the tip on masking tape, I'll hang onto that one.
Sounds like I owe you a beer then

f-hole In reply to GFXPunk [2007-10-13 02:19:34 +0000 UTC]
You can get new reusable cassettes too but I'm a bit suss of them popping open unexpectedly. You'll need a film leader extractor to retrieve the film back out of the recycled ones for processing too. The masking tape does the job just as well and is easier to remove.
Cheers mate!

It took me a while to understand what everything really meant, but it's a helpful little tutorial.
I think I'm gonna go with used rolls... makes more sense to me.
