Description 1 : Gibbons

In these two regions there is 4 different genera of gibbons, comprising of 16 species. They are one of the more common primates of the north-east.

2 : Monkeys

Up to 60 species of monkey found in these regions, including spider monkeys, macaques and many more.

3 : King ground ape
Gigantopithecus imperator

The king ground ape is an immense species of primate found mainly in the bamboo forests of the Kasuan highlands. They are rather peaceful, much like orangutan’s of earth. Males grow larger than the females and can reach sizes of 10 feet tall and 300 kg, while females grow to about 8 feet tall and 200 kg.

4 : Giant tinamou
Tinamus giganteus

The giant tinamou is a ratite found in the dense jungles and scrublands of these regions. They are comparable in size of the dwarf cassowary, as well as having a similar lifestyle.

6 : Badger sloth
Mustelocnus spalaeus

The badger sloth is a mylodont sloth found in the lowlands of Kasu and Ma’hundi. They are named after their slight resemblance to mustelids and their lifestyle, which can be compared to that of a badger. Their diet consists of fruit, plants, carrion and small prey items such as insects and birds. They grow to about 2 metres long and 300 kg.

10 : Giant nutcracker
Dromornis silvestria

The giant nutcracker is a type of dromornithid bird which is related to modern birds such as geese. It is rare and only found in the dense highland jungles. Their diet consists of fruit, nuts and other vegetation. They grow up to 3 metres tall and weigh in at 400-500 kg.

11 : Altbird
Antiquusopteryx magnificens

The altbird is a type of paravian dinosaur related to genera such as archaeopteryx. The “alt” part of the name derives from the german word for “old”. It is a relic from a by-gone era in earths history. They are reclusive and are seldom seen. They are similar in size to archaeopteryx.
