Description I photographed this F-80 variant at Bergstrom AFB in July 1986.

It looks as if there is a camera installation in the nose, but it definantly is not the same configuration as the RF-80Cs that were in USAF service.

I have no idea what serial this aircraft is or where it eventually ended up.

Holy crap, an F-80 with a camera in the nose. You must hvae some UFO shots somewhere with the occupants standing outside. Must've been interesting to serve with you. MOst of the time I saw something ultra rare (or unbelievable) I ddin't have a camera. That's why I carry a small digital one with a bit of a lens with me all the time.

It was an interesting find!  I wish I had some details on what this jet was... and where it ended up.

... This one has me completely baffled... must have been some kind of local modification, so it seems. >.>

Yeah, the nose mod is a bit unusual.  I wonder where the airplane is now?

I hope she got preserved - although I guess it's likely that if she did, she was returned to stock condition... :/

Yeah. F-80s are a lot more rare than a T-33!

... it actually surprises me quite a bit that there are no F-80s left airworthy, given their parts compatibility with the T-33 (of which there are still plenty left)...

For years there were no "T-33s" allowed to be operated by civilians in the US. They were only the Canadair CT-33s for many years.  The USAF was pretty strict with allowing anything that was not a cargo type acft to fall in civilian hands back in the day.
