Description F-15E 86-0186 of the 461 TFTS, seen marked as the 405 Tactical Training Wing Commander's jet seen soon after arrival at Luke AFB.

For a time these were flown without the Conformal Fuel Tanks (CFT's) installed and looked really strange without them!

So was this the first ever ever F-15E? Or the first at your base? Either way, it's a very interesting plane and I gather quite a demon in the air. Nice!!

The first F-15E built was a test acft (and still is) and was based at Edwards AFB. This was the first F-15E to make it to an operational (albiet training) unit.

I keep thinking you should write a book! But I think I've mentioned that before!
