Description *note to self: static composition means twice more work to make it look good.*

Here it is! Taurus, fourth piece of my horoscope series. Several myths can fit this zodiac sign. At first I chose the minotaur but I love Egyptian mythology far too much so I eventually went for the goddess Hathor!
I spent way too much time on it, even though I like this one! Still need to be better, faster, stronger! ;o;

Jemaica Murphy helped me adjusting the colors, adding more purple lights/shadows to balance all that brown. Thanks!

Fantastic!

Like you, I have a fondness for Egyptian mythology, though I lean more towards loving the goddess Bast ... much of my love for it comes from my Mother who I believe got to see back when it first arrived here in the US back in the sixties.  She also had many books on the artwork from Egypt and tried to teach me who to read the hieroglyphs.

Thanks! Oh sure I love Bast too!

That's neat! So you can understand some hieroglyphs?!
I won't even give it a try! I'd do that when I became fluent in English, and there's a long way to go!

I remember when I was a kid, my grandma had a book on ancient Egypt and the cover was a statue of Anubis.
I loved that image so much it made me want to do art for the rest of my life.

**Giggles!**

Not really ... I believe she could understand some of them, but the teaching attempt was a good way to bond with Mom over a rainy summer afternoon.  There's not too many moments where I spent time with Mom.  She was often busy and of course I had my own stuff to do ... and we both had our own friends as well.

Mom has a few pieces ... replicas of Egyptian stuff that she'd bought through her travels, nothing more than eyecandy, mind.

Hathor eh? I'm not familiar with her, but she seems interesting.

Sure she is! She was one of the most important goddess in Egypt. Also she's Horus' wife. That's why I added a falcon in the sun.

Nice job. I like the strategically placed hair. I really love the background too. It looks fantastic.

Thanks! Haha! Yeah the ancient Egyptian dress doesn't cover the breasts so I had to find another way!

Haha fair enough. It's a shame an alternate hasn't popped up on your other account.

Haha! That's true! I could use some layers in Photoshop to do alernative versions. But as wierd as it may sound, I didn't even think about painting the hidden parts, cause I knew I'd keep them hidden.
The only time I did an alternate, it was on a Tina Xuan piece, and it bothered me because I felt like there was a "real" version, and a "fake" one.
But I need to do another piece for my other account this month! I'm late! >_<

I guess it depends on your preference. I personally don't see it that way unless it's very obvious something was just painted over for the sake of 'censorship' or whatever.
