Fun little Microraptor I spent a few hours on to unwind. looked at moluccan cockatoo crests and hyacinth macaws to wager its approximate look and style.Photoshop CS3 and a wacom tablet

Oddly enough, many Microraptor fossils show a blue tinge that may indicate they really were blue! Such is the quality of unfortunate creatures flattened on slabs of Yixian lake mud.

Really pretty, but the copyright text sort of destroys the image. I know you probably feel it's necessary, though. I find it sad that honest viewers aren't able to fully appreciate a piece of artwork like this due to the threat of art thievery.

Your skill is quite evident... also, this is the most missing-link-looking dinosaur I've seen between dinosaurs and birds. It looks like they would pounce like velociraptors in movies, but the pounce would turn into a swoop.

There's an interesting documentary about Microraptor were a team of scientists attempt to figure out the manner in which this animal glided. Intriguingingly, it seems likely it lept out of the trees with its legs extended behind it (not to the sides), then swung them forward in a motion very like its big cousins' attack pattern in order to slow down and land on the next branch. Pre-adaptative behavior, gorgeous! /steveirwin

This is GLORIOUS. Raptors (both modern and Dromaeosaurids) have always been one of my favorite animals. I like the vivid blue and yellow colors, and the crest is really detailed!
