Well, it's just the dynamics, and I'm probably the only one who sees it *coughcoughI'mafantardandanerdcoughcough* *coughohandalittlsnutscough* but if you look at her eyes and the shape of the FLOOOOOOOOOF around her head and neck, then look at the deleted scene from Alpha and Omega (which was animated with a different style than the actual movie and was way better) she looks a bit like Kate.

I've never seen a deleted scene. I've only seen the original film, which had less than stellar design to be honest (many, many issues with the anatomy). Hence my concern at the comparison.

I was taking care of a friend's puppy for a few days, so I got inspired to draw them.

then that makes this piece even better. puppies definately move and make facials i had NO idea they could make until I had my very own. I feel like you captured that and NO one is going to believe me until they see puppies interact with anything. even the simplest object.

I love that their limbs move like they have a mind of their own. Her back end would always try to run faster than her front end, so she'd end up in this weird diagonal trot.

YES that is exactly how a puppy is. i remember mine would look like she was running in a horse shoe shape, they 90% out of control. It makes it so much better. they are so ackward and depending on the breed some times their giant paws just make it more obvious that they have no control. I also love when they just run out of steam and fall asleep in mid- whatever they were doing. i was playing fetch with my puppy and she just kinda...gave up and passed out on the ball in a smoosh pose. oh...to have time machine. what kind of dog was your friends puppy?

The older the wolf, the more massive the mane in this series generally. Unless you're a puppy, in which case your floof is just kind of all over the place.

Well you could try looking at photos again. But also try drawing/considering the back of the character. What's behind your character informs the front. Each character is conceived inside and out.

Markings on puppies differ from their adult look. Much like german shepherds are born mostly black.
