im having a bit of a background problem .
youve realy seem to do bg's spot on and i figured ya might be the best sorce to my question-->

ive always seemed to struggle with horizons "exmp"whats behind this character that will be behind whatever behind that.
GRAAH trying to make sence of it!im rely bad with words XP

i gues another way to put it is i just have a habbet on adding another hill behind another one to wich the skys no longer vissible :sigh:
and i feel as if i didnt do that the background will seeem flat.

i think im missing somthing somthing in the bourders of the background?im just stumped as to what it is

i noticed in most of yours"and others" that you add somewhat of a fog to seperate the bg from the existing bg.

if you know of a way to answer this or any REALY helpfull tuts it whould be much appritiated

geez i could call this a symptom of horizaphobia=cant tell the limits of where the earth ends CX

It's called atmospheric perspective, it happens in nature. Notice how things in the distance, like a mountain, appear to be lighter and slightly cooler/bluer in color than they are close up? Especially in a fog? This is because the atmosphere affects the color and clarity of objects (hence why it's more obvious in fog, there's more particles in the air, it's a denser atmosphere).
I have a very old tutorial in my gallery that explains this some, but I'd say just look at paintings and photos in general. Especially paintings in this case, since you're trying to replicate something that's a little abstracted sometimes in art for mood's sake.

I should put up some of the other wip pieces I've done. I could do several walkthroughs.

I, personally, would totally love that! It's always awesome seeing the process an artist takes :3

Wow...it was such an incredibly detailed peice...then you blurred it and added glow effects. I am rather dissapointed. The next to last stage was rocking, and you lost that all in the special effects. Do you have a saved version before added the blur and glow but after all the coloring is done?

Wow. That's amazing. I see you've mastered the use of ground planes
And the perspective on the character's awesome, I can never draw characters' heads from that angle D=

Awesome job
