man this animation has such a good sense of...idk, timing and weight??? like every movement has exactly the right amount of emphasis. something about that first big flap and the way it swooshes off the perch just feels very satisfying to look at, and the perspective and anatomy are godlyΒ

I think you mean frames. I forget how many exactly, but it runs at 24 frames per second and it lasts about 6 seconds.

I was like JUST reading a thing about how bird flight is like the #1 hardest thing to animate. Wings don't actually move the way we anticipate them to move. The motion of it is fundamentally foreign to us.Β

You can technically see some of them on the small screen now. I did work for "Like Share Die" (board artist and designer primarily, but I did a lot of animation work there too)

Think the way those legs pick up feels so natural, I tried for ages to find what I liked so much about the whole thing and only just saw it. Feels so good overall.

I try to make it so if you follow any given part of the body, it will move in a smooth arc with the same kind of flow as the "bouncing ball"

By having nothing better to do when I was much younger.
Well that and not letting tech get in my way of animating. I made flipbooks. I did stopmotion (and this was before any handy apps, I literally clicked pause on and off on a camera with no little preview thing). I drew a lot. And I read books and watched movies. So by the time I had tech, I had a baseline level of knowledge.
