"(She watched him gaze out the window for a long time.

It had been a few years since she deceived him and tried to claim his planet, and now that he was on the Massive as an occasional member, Tak felt she had to lay their past to rest.

Her hand trembled as she reached it up, and then...

        Tap.

Dib turned and looked down at her, and she backed away.)

Dib: ............Tak? What do you want?

(He didn't sound the least bit spiteful or bored.

In fact, he was purely curious.

Tak remained guarded and on her toes as always, tough as nails.

Only this time, there was a sense of humility about her.)

Tak: I....have noticed that you and Zim are becoming residents.

Dib: Oh, yeah! It's....it's really great.

(He was excited when first speaking, but as he realized who he was talking to it all went away.

Dib smiled tiredly at her, trying to be polite in spite of everything.

Still, he remembered.)

Tak: Yes....Listen, Dib--

Dib: Do I have to? I mean, after all you put me through I don't wan--

Tak: That's why I'm here. I.....*sigh* I'm not good at this. I'm not used to it, so be patient.

(Dib tilted his head, waiting for her to make more sense.

It took her a good minute to get herself together; she was new to this.

All her life, she had hardly ever had to say "I'm sorry," but here she was.

She couldn't turn back now.)

Tak: I'm....sorry.

Dib: *eyes widen*

Tak: I mean it. I'm really sorry...

(Her eyes saddened, grief and regret ringing from her voice.)

Tak: All the lies, all the deceit....when I came to Earth, my only intention was to fell Zim. I really didn't mean to get in this deep...

Dib: You tried to deSTROY the Earth!

Tak: I wasn't trying to DESTROY it, just hollow it out!

Dib: What's the difference?!

Tak: GYAH!!

(She rubbed her eyes with her hands.

This was not going as she had hoped.)

Tak: I didn't come here to hurt anybody else.....I just wanted to take what was mine, and you...

Dib: ....I....?

Tak: You got in the way...

(It was quiet for some time.

Sad quiet.

Dib was torn; how could he know she was sincere?)

Dib: I wanna believe you, Tak. I wish I could.

Tak: *takes a step closer* But you can! You can trust me now!

Dib: Why should I believe you?

Tak: I DON'T--......know....

Dib: You made me think someone cared, Tak. Do you know how big a deal that was to me back then?

(Tak became somber.

        "I can only imagine..." she uttered softly.

Dib glanced at her, softening at her sad expression.

When he thought she was his friend, she only ever scowled or smiled calmly.

But today she was emotional, flustered, acute -- different.)

Dib: ........Do you...genuinely understand how destroying a planet full of innocent people for your own gain is wrong?

Tak: *quickly* Yes! I didn't care then, I really didn't. And now? ...I regret it. And seeing you, and seeing you and Zim...together, nh...I'm still pissed at him -- that will never change. But you...you're not bad. And as dim and bumbling as your species is they weren't so bad, either.

Dib: Well I wouldn't go THAT far.

(He chuckled.

Tak, however, didn't smile.

Dib soon became serious again as well, sighing as the awkward grew stronger.

This elephant in the room had been here for years, and now that it was being addressed its weight seemed to bring down the stars.)

Tak: I know I was wrong, but I....I really did think you were interesting. The ghosts, the vampire...thing, whatever they were-- You're different than your people, Dib. Smarter, sincere...Honestly? You made it harder for me to try and do what I had come to do. I would have regretted disposing of you. I really am sorry, and....I'd like to still be friends, if...

Dib: I don't know...

(It seemed genuine, it really did.

Still, one thing remained; Tak tricked him, and took advantage of everyone.)

Dib: Again I really wanna believe you, but I just...can't right now...do you understand?

Tak: ...............

(Surprisingly, she was heartbroken.

A stone-cold ex-soldier, Tak never thought someone's friendship would mean anything to her.

But as she stood before Dib and listened to him reject her and her offers to try and make amends, her soul crumpled with shame.

She swallowed a very dry wad of spit and looked down at his feet.

It was clear how deeply she was regretting it all, but Dib didn't give in.

Not entirely, anyway.

His eyes, as his voice, softened, and the young man he was growing into seemed to get that much more mature.)

Dib: Tak, that side of you I saw back when I thought we were friends...I liked it. You just...kinda blew it. But maybe if I see you mean it, we can be friends later on...okay?

Tak: I understand...

(Rubbing her arm, she failed to return the faint smile Dib was giving her.

She knew she'd have to jump through hoops to earn her friend back, and it was a leap she was willing to take.

         Dib and Tak parted ways promptly, and the Irken went on about her day with her head hanging.

She had a looot of work to do...)"

TaDF, anyone?

I just can't go on without mending Tak and Dib's damaged relationship.

I never really shipped them, but i LOVE the idea of them as friends.

So i had to do this draw and paragraph and i have a feeling a few people may appreciate it ^^

And ah...even though Dib is so short here, i see him being like 17 or 18 XD

Kitten and i like the idea of Dib using serums to shrink down to Zim's size or at least close to it once in a while for their ah..."intimate" benefit X)

Besides, it might make Zim less pissy about Dib's height XD

Anyway even just drawing the back of Dib's HEAD is hard!

HOW DO PEOPLE DRAW HIM?!?!?

Maybe i just need to steer away from trying to hold hands with the traditional IZ style and just find my own way...
