WELL i can't seem to get this particular scene with Robin out of my head, so you all get to deal with my ranting and rambling as i desperately try to unload what be on me chest

Just when i thought i couldn't delve any deeper into this beautiful, terrible episode, more and more started to occur to me.
First off, it's sad enough to see a character you love drugged, mentally unstable and strapped to a hospital bed, listening to his friends talk about how he's dangerous and crazy.
Oh, but it doesn't stop there! *flings rose petals, rainbows and glitter everywhere*
I started thinking about after Starfire knocked him out, consider this...
His friends strapped him in.
Think about that, think about them carrying him home and having to strap his unconscious body in.
Think about them having to deal with that, sad and worried and losing sleep.
I'll bet Cyborg and Raven were the ones who had to do that, meanwhile Starfire was no doubt taking it hard and was dying inside, wondering what was wrong with her friend and if he'd ever be the same.
Why he'd hurt her, why he'd yell at her.
And as i discussed it with Kitten, it killed us to think that these were just kids!
The criminals they dealt with, particularly Slade, had a complete disregard for the ages of the people they were hurting, a common staple in DC.
On that note it makes each villain much more twisted and dark, and never mind the Joker.
At this age, can we really blame Robin in particular for being so traumatized, and sometimes unhinged?
Good grief, this show, even for kids was very intense.

The other thing that's gotten to me is that we realize Robin's stopped trusting his friends just before Starfire knocks him out, which is sad.
But what's worse and a greater sign of that is when in the medical bay he starts to hallucinate about Slade, what does he do?
...Nothing.
He doesn't utter a damn word, doesn't call for help, doesn't try to alert the others.
I'm sure part of this was him thinking he was protecting them, but ultimately i think he knew they wouldn't be able to help him.
Which is interesting, because had he said something they'd have run in and found him going crazy, aaand then a lot of drama would've ensued :"L
Well -- it was drama anyway and brilliantly done, if you ask me, but i think you know what i mean.
It would've been complete CHAOS.
So in regards to this, the notion that Robin didn't call for help breaks my heart, SO much.

Something that i don't like about the episode is -- and i know this is for plot convenience, but -- the fact that no one ran in IMMEDIATELY when they noticed his heart rate and everything skyrocketing.
RATHER THAN CYBORG STANDING THERE TALKING ABOUT IT, WTF WERE THEY DOIN'?!
AHHH!
And something i see as a great flaw is that Slade gives Robin anxiety, or at least i would imagine.
At least in that moment no doubt he would've had anxiety.
Helpless, strapped to a bed in the dark while the most dangerous, most ruthless criminal is coming towards him with an electric blade??
The guy who kidnapped, blackmailed and tormented him for however long?
I think the MOMENT he heard Slade's voice his heart rate would've spiked, because as brave as he was we all know he was scared half to death, so the fact that the monitors didn't start whirring right then irks me a little.
But oh well, it's just a cartoon and ya know, plot convenience

My nitpicks aside, this episode is still one of my favorites, as with many people!
I just wanted to get this off my chest and share it in the hopes for discussion with someone somewhere.
Frack, i wanna do an rp with it or do art around it or something, it's driving me crazy!
I can see Robin having dreams from time to time that a scenario similar to this is happening again, but this time he calls for help and his friends either ignore him or don't hear him. ;__;
I'm horrible.
