Description
Derwent graphic and Progresso graphite pencils, HB,B,3B,6B&8B, on A3 smooth card.
I wanted to practise drawing hair because I find it pretty difficult. So I thought I'd try an image with curly hair because of the defined structure. I'd found the reference on the web a little while ago but can't find it now - I think it might have been a young Brooke Shields. I'd also decided to try some different paper, a really smooth card from a local stationary store - not the best decision. I think the card had a plastic layer which didn't take the soft graphite very well. But I stuck with it.

Oh my this is wonderful. I'm collecting for a feature on the graphite/charcoal artists.

You did a great job Kath! I haven't attempted curly hair (and I don't intend to, lol!) because of the scary details and definition. Congrats!

Thank you, Rob, much appreciated! I'm getting there, not quite the depth and detail of your "Selfish", but I'll try another one soon.

Thank you, Joe, much appreciated! I use graphite pencils, of course, paper stubs/tortillons and tissue for blending and Faber-Castell pencil erasers, pink/soft and white/hard, which can be sharpened and are good for lifting small/fine amounts of graphite. And a lot of patience!
