Description
Derwent graphic pencils, HB,B,3B,6B&8B, and Mont Marte charcoal pencil on A3 smooth Quill Board paper.
This is probably the most difficult drawing I've attempted so far. I used charcoal for the background to achieve a darker contrast and 's gorgeous photo fav.me/d4fsdz0 as a reference.
Let me know what you think...

Ah, the boring answer is practice, practice, practice. But maybe more helpful is finding those photos that are really inspiring and exciting.

Good! I though you were gonna say drink demon blood. And I'm fresh out of demons. But, practice? Well, I can certainly do that!

Well I'm glad to hear that! You could try demon blood if you want, but make sure you clean up cause that shit is nasty and you wouldn't want to get it on your drawing!

Thank you so much! I really enjoyed drawing her face, even though the angle and water made it so challenging.

This is very pretty, the detail on the water is gorgeous. It looks to me, though, especially after viewing the source photo, that the nose looks twisted, I think mostly because the left nostril is extending too far down. I think the right eye is too far in, too, but that honestly didn't bother me that much because it looked like a stylistic choice whereas the nose is throwing the shape of the face off a bit. I really do this this is beautiful, though, and captures your source image well, especially since reflective materials are so difficult to render. Good job!

Thank you so much! Yeah, this was the 1st time I'd used charcoal to any great extent. It certainly achieved the darkness I wanted, but I had to learn a lot to try and get the water realism.
Water is fascinating to draw, so simple yet complex at the same time.
