I had this long piece of paper sitting there that I didn't want to go to waste--it had been there for a couple of years, actually. Then this image popped into the storyline in my head, and I was finally able to make use of it. Not much to say about this one. It speaks for itself. It's not my best work, but it's good enough, I guess.

Enjoy!

Thanks! Her expressions are practically the reason I drew the entire series, so I'm glad you like it.

I actually like this picture the best out of all of them I think. The gremlins in the background are so creepy! Look at 'em!

You're not alone in that view. This is one of those pictures where so much of the story is told, both forward and backward, so it has a lot of power as far as an illustration goes. And, yes, the gremlins' glowing eyes do add quite a creepy atmosphere and tense anticipation to the scene. I'm very glad you like it.

I know what these things remind me of now, the evil krusty the clown doll from the Simpsons.

Haven't seen them, although I think I saw part of a Simpson's episode in which Krusty comes back from prison and Bart is worried he's up to no good.

I realize the girl loses her clothing later on in this series, but this is still by far my favorite image of the whole bunch. Her expression, the lighting and shadows, the creeepy creatures, the quality of the linework... perfecto, my friend, perfecto! Very scary indeed.

Thanks! This is the first one of these where I really knew where I was going with the whole thing, so I spent more time on it than I did on most of the others. I'm glad you like it so much.

The once silent chamber was now filled with the unbearable, shrill cries of tiny demons. The terrible noise and stench grew worse. More of them seemed to step out of the darkness with every passing moment. Parts of her body ached from the fall, but such things were trivial now.
– β€œGet your paws off of me!!” she roared. The sound of her voice seemed to excite them even more. They hollered in a language she could not understand, and cheerfully leaped up and down like wild monkeys as they watched her struggle. Both her feet were now fully tethered and restrained by these little monsters. She tried with all her might to swing her mace as one of them attempted to tie down her arm, but the tiny creature was stronger than she had anticipated. It seemed almost unnatural.
– β€œWhat are they?!” she wondered, confused by what had just happened.
– β€œA fine mess I’ve gotten myself into!” she thought, now stricken with panick. Confinement such as this was most disagreeable, and she would not stand for it. If only she could keep her arm free, she could bludgeon them all to death. She fought with her small captors, kicking and twisting like mad, but despite her admirable strength and in spite the tiny size of her enemy, it did not seem to do much good.

That's a pretty extreme angle for the head - nice work tho; you pulled it off, it still looks alive and natural. I would have done a melodramatic arch, myself, heh. The Rats are great... love the swarming of them and the eyes... Major kudos, as always!

Yeah, the head is probably upright a tad too much, especially without some serious neckwork under her chin. Oh well. It's all about the face, I guess. Thanks! Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing this story told in the patented DocRedfield style, melodramatic arches and all...

Thank you, thank you! Maybe our heroine should have checked "what she was standing on," to see if it's a sure foundation... Sorry, I just like your quote. It's one of my favorite parts of the N.T.

I'm also glad that you're familiar with the New Testement. ^_^
Thanks Jeff!

I'm quite familiar with the N.T. One might not think so, given the things I draw and paint. Paul's not my favorite, although there are some brilliant verses in there.

As far as the picture goes, I imagine our heroine actually never went into the tunnel in the wall at this point, but will eventually get there (whether she wants to or not...)

Kinda' silly-looking critters, but that's what popped into my head. I agree: I love good illustrations that tell either part of or an entire story in one shot. Your "Don't Open the Door" picture is a perfect example of either and both. Thanks for the compliment.

Oh dear, I think her intentions to rescue a missing wench hasn't gone according to plan. The captors suggest sending more females

Reminds me of the "Chick-fil-A" (as in "chicken filet") fast-food joints' recent advertising campaign. A cow stands upright next to the counter, holding a sign in its front hooves: Eeet mor chikun.

Hehehe, but you have to keep the little guys happy. If they can handle a few more females and they have rope to spare, it's only fair to indulge them

We'll see about sending the sorceress from "Twisted Plot" their way, then. Of course, the plants have to finish with her first, and somebody's gonna' have to free her of that wand...

I'm sure the sorceress can take care of a few troublesome weeds and regain her wand
