Okay, I'm going back now to continue Maladyne's story arc in Web of Betrayal.

“Memories...” Avora says evenly, “...can kill.” Her smile is utterly cold and mirthless, and the words freeze Maladyne’s struggles before they begin. “You and your family have wielded memories as weapons for nigh two hundred years, Milady. Your struggle here and now is evidence of that very fact.” She glides forward, seeming to meet Maladyne’s gaze from an impossible height. “‘This is pointless’ you say? Hardly. Memories strike us from where we are most vulnerable: our past. And they can kill what is most vulnerable in us: our will to choose, to act. You know this as do these figments whose thoughts are contained herein. And you know it by those figments who are not present here, whose memories are not included.

“Where is Antreatos of House Martilis?” Avora challenges. “Where are the memories of those who stood with the Harbinger on that great Advent Day when She defended the people of this land? You could say that they passed from this life before your Guardian had grown powerful enough to incorporate their thoughts into its venom, but we would both know that this is not true.”

She pauses, fixing Maladyne with a piercing gaze. “One Who Weeps has seen all and never forgotten. All that is left of him are memories, but you and your elders chose not to add them into this cathartic arena, for obvious reasons. So, I found a way to add them myself. I didn’t know if you’d return here to the Guardian of your family legacy, but I realized that, if you did return before your aims were complete, as my Lord Uncle suggested to me before we parted ways, you would be vulnerable here, within the envenomed reverie of your past.”

I hope people are weathering the current situation well, and that those who are suffering can get the help they need. Again, I'd like to encourage everyone to be a bit more understanding and tolerant than ever, and I mean myself as well, in viewpoints and communications.
