Okay, I'm going back now to continue Maladyne's story arc in Web of Betrayal.

“You brought them!” Maladyne snaps, fighting to get her right arm beneath her and force herself back upright in the disabling lines. A kick sends one of the spider figments off into the mists, but another scuttles into its place on her ankle and another wraps her free left wrist. “This--these figments--are not my doing, they are yours!”

“The figments, yes,” Avora agrees. “But their lines could have no purchase on you without your own reasoning providing one. You and your kin all hold to the idea that the Harbinger saved our people on that first Advent Day, and therefore that we owe our very lives to Her. The idea itself is as binding as any restriction my influence here may bring, and it is only one of many such notions that are the Martilis Family’s legacy.”

Maladyne fights, but the number of her attackers is too much for her to handle, for resisting them is an act of concentration, and she can only focus on one at a time. Though she succeeds in removing the filaments from one part of herself, another part becomes restricted before she is aware. Snarling in frustration, she feels several lines anchored to the center of her back and out of her reach.

“Were your family’s view of the Harbinger’s coming not so distorted,” Avora says calmly, “you would feel no discomfort at my presence, or at these figments of my influence.”

I modified this one that was posted as part of a preview a while back (thumbnail below) to reflect the intended robe. I think it worked okay, but she may be a little thick in the upper body. I'll let it sit for a while and think about adjusting it a bit that way later.

Also, I'm going to take a little break here--been drawing pretty solid on this project for 6 months straight, 6-10 hours every day with very few exceptions. I'll put up a journal entry on it in a minute.

Maladyne was drawn using the wonderful reference material provided for me by minokura . She did a great job struggling against those imaginary spider figments! Thanks!

I hope people are weathering the current situation well, and that those who are suffering can get the help they need. Again, I'd like to encourage everyone to be a bit more understanding and tolerant than ever, and I mean myself as well, in viewpoints and communications.
