Hehehe... I really need to start authors for permission before I do fanart of their stuff

For those of you who are wondering, this picture is of the ending scene in Variables, a fanfic by The Descendant (he's pretty much my favorite author at the moment; fanfic or otherwise).
It's not my favorite fic by him, nor am I entirely sure my pic matches up with the descriptions in the fic (since I tend to pay more attention to the overall themes and emotional torque than exact wording) but I felt I had to do this pic after realizing the only reason I hadn't read the fic before now was because the (now previous) cover art turned me off it and that couldn't be allowed in my book.

(Also because I thought the picture had been done by a commissioned artist TD had mentioned that said his fic was boring and had ended up doing a picture that didn't match fic, and that peeved me off on a snooty artist's level and made me rant about it's poor quality... Until TD told me he'd done that cover because the commissioned work didn't match the fic enough, and because TD is a writer and shouldn't be judged of my internal 'artist snobbery', I feel like a huge jerk now.)
