Great job on the texturing... Only thing... Tanks are not made out of shinny metal, they are rather dull and opaque... But it's cool... Great job!

really cool, my only problems are that it's alittle too shiny, and there should maybe be some rust...
and a question I'm creating a war scene is it alright if I use this tank in it?

yeah sure go right ahead. Just post a link to my gallery.

I see you gave me credit on that but can't see the tank in there lol.
btw, if you need me to render the tank at a different angle, just ask.

I can't even imagine how long that would take. I might think it was a photograph if. . . well, if it wasn't a tank. That would be kind of hard to set up for a studio shoot.

I don't really have the program at home to practice on. *sighs.* It was a class I was taking, I'd never worked with 3D before, that was my first few attempts.

damn that's a great tank, I went to college for computer animation, but ended up getting more out of the film and art side of thing...
in my opinion what would make it just a little bit better would be debris, dirt, perhaps some twigs or barbed wire tangled on it, add all this as seperate layers for a before and after final render, if it's for a modeling demo reel try throwing it on a circular piece of a scene complete with dirt, rocks, slightly war torn ground, etc.. looks pretty badass already, keep goin off on it.

oh yeah, I wanted to do that, but back then I haven't had the skill to do that. I might give it a go for the next model I will make though
The thing is, I'm not that great at texturing yet, so it will be a challange adding dirt maps to the textures

wow, this is some quality modeling any chance its animateable?
as far as the texturing, that's fairly nice as well, but as the others said, I'd like to see less specular highlight. Have you thought about adding some mud/dirt texture onto it? that may be good as well.
Also you were wondering about Brazil r/s ? it's a rendering solution made by Splutterfish and is probably the most popular rendering solution for Max in general. I haven't ever used it myself since it costs about 1000 bucks, but from what I've seen it seems to produce very nice renders
nice work, dude. Keep it up.

thanks, yeah I recently got Brazil R/S The tank was made and rendered way before that though.
You seem pretty experienced, can you tell me how I can add grunge and dirt to the tank?

FunkyBunnies In reply to Fall0ut [2005-04-20 03:48:23 +0000 UTC]
well I'd just take it into photoshop and add a bit of depth with a bumpmap then use a diffuse map with some dull browns in it...nothing too fancy. I'm sure you can tackle it. And excellent on the whole Brazil thing. I'm still using scanline!

ahh comon, use mental ray, it's not bad, well better than scanline

Wow! This tank is so realist! It seems that you taken a picture of it! How much time you spent on it? Because I think that It's not very easy make a 3D picture.

That's quite a tank, personally, I would use Vray for rendering, but great texturing, and modeling.

LoL!!
Vray is better than brazil too, easier, and faster also. =]
Ask anyway, Vray is the most popular render engine today.

Hey that's not bad... I'm not quite used to the way 3ds textures and lights yet... but I guess it'll come with practise hey?

Fall0ut In reply to THEprophetMOSES [2005-03-30 15:51:12 +0000 UTC]
Meh it easy, I can tell you how any day. This is like noob lighting technique I used there
I just set 3 omni lights, made shadows, and made the shadows ray traced.
I don't do that anymore though, I try and use HDRI as much as I can now
Thanks

That is good.. all I can say is that the tank needs to look worn... at the moment it looks like its just been driven out of the showroom.

yeah, you're right

Well it looks good so far, going to study this one a little closer looks a little too high on the poly count to be used in OFP one of the reasons Sigma 6's T80s just keep getting redone over and over again. Anything over 12K in pollies have issues in the game unless loads are done and textures are measured perfectly.
Bobcatt RHS Asshat.

Oh yeah, I know I won't actually be using this in the game.
I just wanted to put it into the game, just for coolness, if I can't, then I'll just have to make some others
