Description
More than a year passed since Mufasa`s sudden tragical death and Scar`s ascension to the throne. Even though the hyena`s population grew rapidly and uncontrollably, the Pridelands still had at least some glimpse of life, which was slowly passing away with every day. Scar, nevertheless, was pleased. He received almost everything he wanted: the throne was now officially his; he had strong army of hyenas who protected himself from any possible unwanted opponents or rebels, either from neighbouring prides or his own; he even had his own queen to fulfill his long desired wish of being respected and admired by the opposite sex and also this queen gave him healthy male heir. Even though the whole pride hated him, he never cared about reproachful glances his family gave to him. They just didn`t want him to be happy, he thought. They never actually cared about anyone but their beloved Mufasa, but now it was HIS time to receive all of the adoration and worshipping and he was about to use any kind of power to get what he wanted.
His beloved son, his Nyota, was growing up and stronger fast. Scar was spending a lot of time with him, trying to build a strong bond between them, even though he usually despised all the father-kid things... The other reason was Nyota`s mother, Sarafina. His queen who tried to steal his son and fill his mind with the same Mufasa-worshipping ideas as the whole pride had. Scar tolerated this just because he couldn`t let Nyota loose his trust towards him. The other problem was Sarafina`s daughter, Nala. Beautiful young lioness, full of energy that she spent the wrong way, as Scar thought. Stubborn, even rude, but in some sort it made her even attractive in Scar`s eyes. Sometimes, though, she was too disrespectful...

"You don`t care about anyone but yourself, Scar! Our family was suffering since you became the king!" The lioness growled angrily. Scar turned his head up, proudly, looking down to the young lioness with a sneer on his face.

"And what happened to you, brother..." Nala turned her head to a smaller white lion, who tried to copy his father`s attitude, though he couldn`t exactly manage to do it identically. "I never saw you being so heartless like you are now!" Nala`s eyes were flickering in the moonlight, showing the tears coming closer to falling from her cheeks.

Nyota hesitated with an answer, but just for a second. He quickly returned to the indifferent annoyed tone, just like the one Scar always had. "What`s wrong with me? Nothing. You heard what father said: we can`t help them. This illness is just something that happens during the dry season, we just can wait and hope that we won`t loose anyone else".

"It wouldn`t have happened if at least Rafiki could-" Nala started, but was roughly interrupted by the king.

"I will not tolerate this crazy monkey in my kingdom, never!"

"Well then you sentenced them to death, you, monster!" Nala cryed out, letting tears roll down to the dry rocky floor. Scar rounded his eyes, showing indignation and then snarled, looking at the lioness.

"Never speak with the king like that, Nala!" Nyota stepped forwards Scar, showing his teeth angrily and frowning. Scar glanced at his son with a bit of surprise but then smiled with satisfaction. Finally, Nyota was taking just the path he needed...

Decided to illustrate more of my headcanons featuring Scar`s era and Mheetu (Nyota is his real name in my hc). Here you can see how successfully Scar tries to brainwash Mheetu so he could become just like him. He almost succeeded at that time being, but soon Mheetu finally started to realize he was totally wrong about everything he thought was right... When he grew up, he disobeyed Scar and was almost killed for that by his already crazy father who once loved him so much. Here`s another related art btw: I Am The King!
