How sweet. I especially like the coiling, sinuous form of Discord's posture, the dusky softness of the background, and the numerous variations of color in Celestia's mane. Not to mention seeing these two sharing a tender moment is one of those lovely "opposites attract" scenarios.

that's oversimplifying the simplification. all of those wanted power without any remorse over the one they hurt.
discord is chaos the most equal of the things, and mostly harmless fun (in his case) for what we have seen in the cartoons, also he's trying to be as "reformed" as he can be.
he also has never directly attacked or harmed celestia, he's at most teasing her, he seem to just want her attention
ofcourse i'm cool with people who don't like this ship, but i do enjoy Β both characters and the theory that "opposite attract each other".
i will never force my ideas on anyoneΒ

Discord was about 5 seconds from imprisoning both Celestia & Luna in plunder tentacle plants during the initial confrontation.
Its also established that all the ponies were miserable under Discord's control.
I'll be back when Season 4 ends and Discord is wickedly re implemented.

yes he tried to imprison, to render them inactive so to not harm them even more.
about the misery it is to be seen, we don't know much about his reign, beside the princess early explanations, that could very well be said to bring more determination in twilight and company)
and i doubt a blackmail would work on discord if he really wanted to spread some chaos
