Description
Yes, my little problem child who loves to get into my house plants and unplant them, or jump on my furniture like a crazy dog when I don't allow dogs on furniture. I still love her very much.Check out my gallery *JulieFallesen

Thank you, I was surprised I got Zelda to sit long enough to take her picture. I was going to use a water spray bottle but then Leah stopped me. She said that using it could cause the dog to fear sprays of water and that could be a problem if she ever goes to the groomer in the future. She suggested that we get her an outside sandbox as an area where she is allowed to dig. Right now, we are just not allowing her into the diningroom where my one big plant is that she got into 3 times today.
She will learn soon enough. She is in her hyper stage right now but at night she just calms down and is just so loving. It is like a totally different dog.

Yeah, I never thought about that, good thinking! And you're right she is going through that rough and tumble stage and will settle down soon enough, fingers crossed lol. Good idea on the sand pit...I would even suggest hiding bones or toys in the sand for her to dig she would find that fun!

Oh that is a very good idea to hide treats and bones for her in the sand box. I never thought of that. Zelda would love that.

Zelda thinks it is Christmas everyday I think. I spoil her. I can't go out without picking up both dogs a little something. And she gets so happy when she gets one on one time too. She walks so nicely on the leash and proud. She loves to be the center.

I can just see Zelda with her head held high on her leash...making Mom proud

She does do that and just walks right next to your side the whole time and doesn't pull at all. She loves people too. But one time a few weeks ago while on a hike we stopped to rest and some guy was coming up the path towards us and she jumped in front of me and started to growl at him. So protective she is.

Awww, she so loves her Mommy...Our dog Frisco was like that, he loved me to bits and everytime Jim and I would play fight he would go for Jim lol, he never hurt him, but he sure did warn him!

Aww Frisco sounds cute, Our German Shepard will attack the one that is down. She doesn't like even playing fighting because when my mom's dog comes over and him and Zelda start to play rough she always tries to break it up. I do wish our Shepard would teach Zelda some things because our Shepard is so well trained and such a good girl. We were able to trust her for hour in the house alone when she just 5 months old. She never does any damage and is the biggest sweetheart too. So gentle, it takes the big dog about an hour to human food because she is just so gentle even with her food.

Aww thanks, Frisco was a good dog, very hyper though lol...He's been gone a long time now, and we haven't had a dog since...just cats lol. Anyway, your Shepard sounds like a real sweety-pie Julie, and before long I bet Zelda will be taking notice of how she behaves and such...after she settles down I'm sure!

Yes, after Zelda settles down and stops beating up my poor full grown German Shepherd. LOL. Zelda is lucky the Shepherd is so sweet because she weights 72 pounds against Zelda's 30 pounds right now. But right now Zelda is the dominate one and bosses the other one around.

Aww poor girl...I've forgotten what you're Shepard's name is? Zelda might get a little surprise of her own if she pushes the boundaries too far with her...even the sweetest of animal can only have so much patience I'm sure and I don't like admitting, maybe that would settle Zelda a little bit more.

Yes, I wish that she would give Zelda a little surprise just to set her in her place a little. But for now, I do let Zelda know that over all boss is me. Even today she knew I wasn't happy with her in the tone in my voice and she just rolled over on her back giving those, "I'm sorry Mommy eyes". Only thing is it didn't work on me. LOL.

Lol, good on you...that should help, a firm voice I remember when we took Frisco to obedient lessons, the trainer said, a firm voice and a firm NO and a quick wave of your hand in front of her muzzle when you say it. I once helped our neighbor control another neighbor's dog that they were pet sitting...I just took the leash and gave a sharp jerk (that we were taught to do) and said NO and the dog settled right down and behaved. It's just like you said, you have to show her who is boss

FallesenPhotography In reply to ArtBYbeverly [2012-07-29 22:07:02 +0000 UTC]
Yes, doing that with the leash and stuff is good it is using a form of motion dogs understand. Leah knows a lot more about animal behavior then I do. She has an Associates Degree in Animal Management and certificate in Cognitive dog behavior. I think that is why our Shepherd is so well behaved.
