Vantium has several different origins depending on the race. One states that he punched a hole into Atheria from his own universe (where he was mortal) and matter spilled over from the other world into ours. Another story says that he brought the light of the stars over from his world and it sparked life in the universe that already existed (this is a belief of the dragons, who think that Etria and Vantium are one in the same). One other story claim he used magic to ignite a massive planet, sparking the sun.
He takes on one of three forms at any point in time. The most widely recognized of these forms is his dragonesque form. He is far more serpentine then other dragons, but has the same basic shape. His other form is that of a massive four winged bird. Once, he was said to have appeared in the form of a normal sized Froitix. This was once, and is rumored to be the moment he forced the Froitix to split into the two races known as Rantiax and Tytharians. His reason behind this is unknown, as the Froitix was a fairly peaceful race with great knowledge. Tytharians claim that their records say he did so in order to open a gateway to the pathlax. Tytharians are, by far, the closest to the pathlax; therefore, they have the easiest time accessing it and controlling its power. Thus, their claims of this are not unfounded.
It was once a very common occurrence for the immortal divines, the Ivar, to involve themselves with the dealings of mortals. Many would retain a connection to Atheria through their Zravar -- their marked. In recent time, as the mortal races advanced, this fell out of practice. The Zravar did not fit in Atheria as any of the species, therefore it was considered cruel to force a creature to live life as a total outcast.
Hundreds of years would pass before another Zravar would be born. She was made of light with the perfect balance of power, grace, and energy. The goddess, Etria, was looking to force mortals to bow to her will and force Atheria into a state of harmony and balance.
Vantium, the great god of space was able to see through her tales of a beautiful world. She would always seek balance through destruction after all. He decided to create a Zravar of his own, a purely chaotic being who would be able to counteract the effects of the monster Etria created.
“Res Tridus Var juligs”
“Even gods make mistakes”
This is the start of a rivalry we all know too well.
Ok, so can I just ask why some artists use dubstep in speedpaints? Like, some of them make since, but with others... not so much. I have seen some of the darkest images in speedpaints that use dubstep and pop music. I like using music that fits the mood, just like how I used to lighter, instrumentals and soft Nightwish music. for this speedpaint.
Anyway, this is some concept art/ a scene from Atherian lore and history. Enjoy! Because trust me, it was a shit-storm trying to upload that video!!!!

Wow there are many good points in this drawing, almost clueless where to start. Maybe firstly I'd like to point out the character design - I'm no expert in that, let alone creature/dragon design but I believe you created a very unique one. The whole flow is so nice to look at (the long tail that's curving to the front and back again with 'balanced' proportion). The detail on the scales is just amazing, must have taken quite some time to draw them all covering the body. Not to mention the tattoo's design, I love to see the squiggly but smooth curves, you seem to have a certain vision in your mind, not only drawn in the spur of the moment which is great.
There's the uniqueness too in the background, there seems to be a 'sun'/bright star behind the creature's back. I don't know if there's an intentional metaphor behind it but that certainly intrigues me, I mean this could tell a story of the creation of universe or something. XD I also love the serenity of the space, lots of stars but all spread in very small size like dust so they don't overly covering the scene, making the main character still being the main focus.
Overall I think you did a great job on this, but if there's something that might use improving that would be the purple fire's direction: based on the character's pose that looks static it's more logical if the fire was rising up instead of blown to the right. And I wonder if you could reduce the black outline, even eliminate it at all or replace it with blue-ish tone the creature would look more realistic. Keep on drawing.~^^

Oh damn! I didnt even recognize you did this for a second. The anatomy and lighting is outstanding as usual! and it seems you put way more detail into this.

Thank you! This was a project I started over 2 weeks ago, but school gets in the way of things. I think this actually helped me slow down and put more details into it!
