Ahhhh... what I've been working on for a month or more. This is the reason why I haven't been uploading anything of value lately. It took me way to long to make this. I still don't think it's up to par.
Things wrong with it:
1-Text is way too small. Sorry. I'm working on a actual typed font version, before I send it off to the Tokyopop contest.
2-It gets very Locke-esque toward the end.
3-Contrast changes on every page.
4-Proportions and sketching style change on every page. I'm not very good at proportions yet ;_;
5-The pages probably don't match up correctly, if printed in manga format (because of the double pages)
6-It's only in black and white - I will upload the colored pictures later. There's about 4 of them.
7-One of the frames is something I drew like a year ago.
8-A lot of the pages are just full-page pin-ups. I consider that a cop-out, because this is supposed to be a comic, not an illustrated novel (but it *will* be an illustrated novel eventually)
9-Lack of speech bubbles may make it hard to follow who is talking and when. I tried to make it obvious. Hopefully, IF you can read the text, you'll be able to understand what's going on.
The zipfile contains all 22 pages, and the cover. It's about 3mb. If you download it, please take the time to comment on it or give me feedback... I spent countless, countless hours on this and I consider it my magnum opus.. of the moment.

If you try to rip any of the images or characters, I will hunt you down relentlessly ^_^ Not that they're very original to begin with... but humor me a little.

SO... SOMEHOW - even though I have been watching you on DA FOREVER - I missed this little upload... I read it and I loved it... The all text version was a bit meh in some parts... but it all came together.. and I LOVED the pages version... ANYWAYS 7 years later... did you write more? Illustrate more? I would love to be pointed toward the greatness that you uploaded somewhere else and I missed... You should publish it yourself like other people do.. lulu.com I think. A fair amount of people would buy it...

I can't really critique the story because I, myself, have a hard time writing anything decent to begin with. Yes, it might be short, but that leaves me with a sensation of wanting more and knowing that there will be something more to come just pleases me to absolutely no end. Your art is gorgeous and the story behind each picture is intriguing beyond most anything else. I can barely wait to see what else you have to post here because I know that with each new piece of work, a new fragment of your story might be hinted of in the description.
As for the art, though some of it might be sketchy I think that just adds a bit of depth to the pictures. All of the panels were well-drawn and the characters are so beautiful ...
oh I could go on and on but it's late and I'm tired. Just thought I'd give some feedback. ^_^

I love ur work. ur drawings ar superb. i do remember seeing pg 16 before. always liked that one. i think this is a great start and cant wait for the rest of the manga. plz if tokyopop doesnt want it (couldnt understand why not...) then take it somewhere else to get it published. its wonderful.

you should turn it into a pdf document. it's scalable and it would be much easier to go from page to page without having to open an entirely different file...

I agree that the lack of speech bubbles adds to the general feel of the comic, and it is a good feel at that! I liked the touches of humour at the start muchos.

Cliche? Certainly not.. Everything's been done before. Fallen angels, impaired characters.. But the way you put it together makes it unique. And certainly interesting (read: enthralling :3).
I can't much imagine this with text bubbles.. I would think that later on when/if you continue to do the comic, that it would need such, but the lack thereof in this chapter really conveys a lot of emotion. It works perfectly for an introduction. The only time my eyes darted a bit to read was on page 14-15 with the text, but it isn't even that bad.
I really hope you do more when you're able. This is incredible so far.. Art, story, setup and all. I'd love to see it in color as well (even if it's only a few parts of it, but still).

i loved it. it has tons of personality with great characters. the artwork is beautiful and truly *yours*. i have always admired how original and unique your style was, and the emotions it always managed to convey. the writing is lovely too, especially the spacing you use for an effect. i sincerely cannot wait until chapter 2, or when it's simply published! wonderful work here. Well, I know that this is coming months after the submission, but I just wanted you to know that you have become almost legendary around here, and that's why while most of us will fall into the oblivion of mediocrity, you will stand out.
I loved your manga, and I don't care what the people above who deemed it "cliche and predictable" and lacking in richness say. Your style is unique and beautiful. It's the popular styles that have become cliche and overdone in light of the west's commercially driven devouring of japanese style, and to see something unique in this atmosphere is such a delight. Your artwork and design is rich beyond words. My heart was heaving at certain frames. There was such a feeling of isolation and loneliness in the way you have left so much white space - it is so true to the underlying emotion. The tattered nature of your lines are also very important in terms of their resemblance to the torn wings of Halcyon, and to photoshop in perfectly straight, clean boxes would be foolish. People often feel intimidated by somebody who doesn't stick to convention, but the unconventional nature of your style is one of the many things that makes it so wonderful.
I have not seen an artist on this site with your capabilities - eloquent writing as well as beautiful and unique artwork and design. All of these elements come together to give you a very strong, sad and vivid voice. Please continue to share your gift with us.

Imust say it is all very good. i really like it alot from the recent of the angel falling to go to the past to see how it all began was a very good idea!
