A very cutesy pic of Hal I 'doodled' on a manilla envelope. The envelope contained several sheets of quality paper.. but NO.. I draw on this crap. Sometimes it loosens you up to draw with bad materials... and it worked for me, so I'm not complaining. I like the way it turned out. She was supposed to be brushing her teeth, but it just turned out to look like she's rubbing her mouth or something. Who knows.Sketch on manilla envelope, uh.. 20 minutes? CG and fixing and finishing, 45 (unfortunately.. quite slow...)

And I completely agree on the "crappy material frees you up" thing. I had a block until I drew with sharpie markers on plain 8.5x11 paper. Cured the block and drew a neat Strong Sad in an "I'm #1" shirt. So yeah... go CRAP! *thumbs-up*

No offense man... But how did this get a DTF?! I mean... you have so much other things that are a LOT cooler than this. Ah well, I can't get inside the mind of the people who faved it. Its a good drawing, yeah... but nothing special compared to your other stuff.

I find that when drawing on less conventional materials (wood, cardboard...) are when I do my best. I'd say you've done a gr8 job here as well.
Where's her bottoms?
Must have eaten them and that's why her hand's to her mouth...stuffing that last peice of material in it perhaps. he he he he he.

I actually enjoy drawing on manilla envelopes XP Being able to color in the whites instead of working with already existing white is a nice change. And a luminescent character like Halcyon looks great on that type of paper ^^ I like it!

Very similar to your last submission, but on manilla paper! Once again, eyes stand out. The texture of the folder plus your skill at making drawn skin seem like real skin makes this look very impressive,

I just think it's funny that you did this on manilla envelope, but the manilla color conveys a particular comfort and innocence to the character itself. Reminds me of a time I drew one of my best landscapes with the sharp end of a bent coffee stirrer on the side of a white styrofoam cup. I remade it in Bryce, and it got about 200 views, which is good for my standards. I mean, come on, you have hundreds of people on your deviant watch, myself included, and I have roughly give or take three. So 200 is pretty good.
There I go again on one of those tangents I do so frequently. Good job to you.

Kinda anoying when you can't get something right on a beautiful peice of nice clean paper and then you churn out a work of art on something like a paper bag or lined note scrap lolz. It's all good and texture tho.

I like little sketchy things like this. And I know what you mean about feeling more free with the junky materials. I have a hard time loosening up when working on expensive papers.
But you know, Yoshitaka Amano does paintings on paper bags he carries his groceries in... and those sell for thousands.
