Interesting as both my guesses were in the right area Wooden teeth on metal wheels were usually to prevent sparks
and mines were dangerous places (Firedamp)

ur prob right about not being down the mines but i dont know what date that thing is most mine pumps had beam engines in the early days of steam "Newcomen 1712" which is why i though a flour mill or a canal pump ...

I should pay more attention..i was just drawn to the big wheel with the teeth and didn't read the guff.I think it probably had to do with James Watt as it was in the National Museum in Edinburgh.

I have just had a brief looksie at Watt's pumps (Boulton & Watt) and i see no wooden cog teeth

And it's connected to the internet and the password is "Earth". (Here in NL a number of villages were recently found to have major waterworks connected to the internets with the name of the village as the password. In short, any school kid could have flooded each of those villages!
