This is not a plea to get high.
It's about compassion...
The Marijuana Policy Project (MPP) is a non-profit organization that is working toward new laws that will allow doctors the freedom to prescribe medical marijuana to their patients. MPP has already helped to get laws passed for the people in 12 out of our 50 states, so patients can get the medication they need. However, the federal government and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) still arrest and prosecute these patients and their prescription suppliers. Much work will need to be done in order to secure patients' rights to their medicine.

On Phoenixtears there are videos on the use of Hemp oil. Rick Simpson tried to bring it forward as a cure to the cancer society, government and drug companies but instead of jumping on it they kicked him out of Canada. THC which is the healer, especially with cancer, in certain types of these plants and it's banned?

Hemp oil doesn't actually contain any THC, it was banned a long tome ago in America and Canada due to fears of it taking over the timber industry. (Hemp is versatile and can be used in place of wood. It's cheaper and takes less space to grow)
THC doesn't cure or fix cancer either, but it helps people deal with the side effects of other treatments. It's a natural painkiller, and cam stimulate the appetites of people going through chemo. The rate that people build up tolerance to it is very slow, so they can use the same amount for a long time. It can also be baked into cookies and other edible things, for those people who can't smoke it or just want an even healthier option.
The government and drug companies aren't interested in cures, either. Cures aren't a weekly prescription. There is no money in making cures.

I smoke marijuana recreationally everyday, and i live in australia where we don't have dispensaries at all, the sick have no access to this wonderful & natural plant and the healthy are denied a natural high. Why isn't this world just?

This is such a sad issue. I work at a rehab center and I feel people are punished for having and addiction. Also, there are some true uses for the substance...

I have Celiac Disease, (One of the chronic digestive diseases Marijuana has been proven effective in treating) with extreme reactions and what seems to be the highest level of sensitivity. The FDA does little or nothing to help prevent people like me from getting sick, and thanks to false labeling, I end up "poisoned" often. Even if there were honest food labels, the ingredient is still used in everything else, (i.e. Paint sealant, chapstick, mouthwash, paper products, glues, soaps, hair dye, lotion, etc) so accidents happen.
----
My personal symptoms (which last 5-8 days) associated with all accidental "poisonings" include : Prolonged headache, extreme stress, nausea, appetite problems, recurrent stomach/digestive/joint pains, insomnia. -- What's worst, the symptoms are so overwhelming that I cannot work as an artist during an "episode."
I would like to point out to all against legalization : People like me continue to suffer because of people like you.

My god, that sounds terrible!! I've never heard of that problem before, but it sounds serious. I heard that President Obama is on the path to making it possible for states to set their own marijuana laws, this way California can take advantage of their #1 cash crop, and sick people won't be arrested if they have a "legal" prescription. I'm not sure where you're from, but this is on the side of good news for you if you're in the states.

Ahh here's hoping. Even if its nationally legal, I live in a state that has yet to set its position on marijuana. :c I wish there was something other than signing petitions I could do to push the the legalization.

I've written to our state senators and our governor. The senators seem against it, but the governor seems open minded. And I believe that the governor is the one that would sign such a bill for a state, right? Anyway, depending if and how much this legislation helps California, maybe other states will pass similar laws in the future.
I honestly wish there were more I could do too. It seems so wrong that we have so many incarcerated individuals whose only crime was taking medicine. I think getting other people to sign the petitions will help. As many as possible. MPP does the rest, but they need donations and participation to fund their non-profit work. Activism is an endeavor of patience and long-term optimism. I wish it could be easier.

and she almost got arrested coming out of the doctors office. its a shame. people use it for pain and other remedies, and still they say your breaking the law...i don't understand it. i think the government rather see people suffering with pain than to give them cure.
im sorry for rambling about, but i think they should sit down and find results, not restrictions.

That's terrible!! I think this is one of those things that should be kept private between a doctor and a patient.
Have you been to MPP.org? There are form letters that you can email to your state representatives to tell them to support this cause in 2009 and future years.

Well, I didn't know if I should make this stamp or not at first. But I was urged to do some research. I spent some time looking up facts, and it turns out that this plant could be the answer to a lot more than just medical problems...
It can be used to create a concrete that is about 6 times stronger than the stuff we currently use, which could give us less expensive and stronger building materials for new homes and businesses. It can be used to make biodegradable alternative plastics to replace the ones we use now that overload our landfills and oceans. It can be used to produce a more eco-friendly fuel to replace our addiction to foreign oil. It can be used to feed poverty stricken communities. It can be used for clothing. And our national expense on the war on marijuana is betwee $10-15 BILLION per year! We could tax it and regulate it to give our economy a boost. Marijuana also can be used to create less toxic cosmetics, paper, and other goods.
So I may have been skeptical before, but I think this option should at least be explored. My letters at MPP's "take action" area at their site took me less than 5 minutes to send to all my state's representatives. I recommend that you and all your friends and family members that are open to this should do the same each time MPP has a new action. It can make a difference!
