Description
Next major update of my Jupiter texture series. This time the Hubble map from 2007. I found much better source material, so I consider this a new texture and not just an update of this one . The data was taken in extreme red (673 nm), blue (410 nm) and violet (343 nm) filters. It was quite a challenge to simulate red green and blue channels that are somewhat close to human color perception, and this is the result.Source:

I don't know why I am not feeling any kind awoseness. It is because I was imagining something more spectacular. I was imagining a feeling of inmensity but when I see more and more to this image that feeling awoseness dissapears. It is incredible that something so far away from us that is now in front of my eyes is boring me right now. I think that the next time I wanna see at this amazing image, the less I think as a bored user and the more I think as an astronaut the more I will get to be amazed. Good map of Jupiter and good page the one you have in this site.

I am anxious to see a texture from the Juno data...

Well it's not really possible to make continious texture from Juno data, but there are some mosaics already...

I did not know that. Thanks for the heads up.

its nice to see a new horizons flyby map for Jupiter ^^ even if it is from Hubble

yes it looked totally different in 2007. New Horizons data is not really suitable for mapping I guess...

i guess not. id have figured they would have done a full observation of Jupiter before Pluto. kinda wondering if they just never put out the data

Hm they kinda did. It's just their camera again. Lorry is b&w but was used for regular observation. There are only a few Ralph images like this one . It says the other color channels oversaturated, so again only b&w. I think NASA is obligated to make all data from spacecraft public eventually, so I'm sure all the data is avaliable somewhere in their obscure format

wow that is a lovely image! yeah, the thing too is just waiting for someone to processes all the data into a gallery.

yep, hopefully we'll get more of this dataset
