Description

Mars was suprisingly difficult to get right. I found its color to be way more redder than I expected. Also none of the map materials I'm using seem to lign up very well with the height map... so technically this map isnt quite what I'm after either but at some point I needed to accept this is the best approximation I can get.

Processing involved combining the high resolution MGS map with the old Viking map and using the color of a lower res map . Finally I adjusted the albedo according to a lower res MGS albedo map .

This map gives the appearance of Mars mostly according to MGS mapping from the late 90s, but large portions of the maps are actually Viking data so I guess it's somewhere in between.
