Description
Another take on Io's true colors. This time I used John Van Vliet's texture as a base, as some artifacts like seams and harsh shading are removed, also the overall contrast seems more consistent compared to the USGS map but that only showed in further processing.
Next step was to simulate a true color map of Io, the original data was aquired with violet, green and IR filters, far from red green blue necessary for a natural view. I mixed the color channels to compensate for this. Then I matched the overall color balance with a spectrum of Io and the brightness with its overall bond albedo (0.56). Lastly I adjusted the gamma value to get this map.
This result is vastly different to my previous attempt for a truecolor Io map . Map is suitable for use in Celestia.

This one's good, at least there is no joints or artifacts.

Are you sure? Io was always shown deep yellow... in every source.

yeah, except when an efford is done to produce a view that would appear to the human eye, like this
the deep yellow color is an artifact of the violet filter that's used for the blue channel in galileo and to some extend voyager images.
