Description
Sam still had two years to serve on this awful mining outpost on the outer rim of the galaxy...In this image I was consciously trying to do something different from the landscapes and Lancaster-themed images I've been doing lately. The original render was very clean and clinical, so I grunged it up considerably with various filters, which also gave it the painterly finish. Now I think I need to see what Sam is doing in the mining colony...

Thanks Joe. I was particularly pleased with the way this particular image turned out.

Nice work! Been playing with changing the window view also. Can change the view but can't find out how to change reflection in window from original. Missing something some where,

I love sci-fi artwork like this!
Request - show us the rest of his landed Spacecraft: inside and out.
Constructive criticism; He looks to be only a bit taller that the window is wide, making the bed appear to be way too big for him.

Many thanks! I had actually envisioned a base station, and I do intend to revisit the location in the near future.
With respect to your crit (thanks for that...): the figure's legs are facing towards the "camera", so there is some foreshortening. The set is properly scaled to "normal" human figures.

Cool one!
The title somehow was too obvious.
I used the same for my render with the Sci-Fi Bedroom.

This is a cool scene, and I like the narrative. Nice work

Thanks Denzel! Sometimes the narrative drives the image, other times, like this one, the image develops first and suggests a narrative...

Very nice scene and the texture look of this.
I've been contemplating getting the Sci-Fi Apartment. Nice to see someone using it. Β Β

My only qualm with this is..I wish the guy was looking outside the window. ;; Β Otherwise, great work!

The point of the image (and story snippet) is that, despite having a room with a view, the protagonist is clearly not in the best frame of mind...Β Β

Very nice. Looks like he has a studio rack set up on the left-hand side. He can mix some music when he gets bored!

LOL! Maybe I'll scatter a few instruments around in the next render... Not sure how his neighbours in the quarters might react.

He just needs headphones and he will be all set!

But doing 5.1 mixes with headphones is almost impossible...

Right you are. But perhaps he is not a connoisseur. Reason and a pair of cheap headphones were always enough for me.Β Β
